Fear not, straight ladies and all two gay men who fell in love with Magic Mike. A larger-than-life sequel is on the way, and there’s even a timeless dick joke included in its title.
“Yeah, it’s gonna happen this fall,” Joe Manganiello confirmed (again) in an interview with Collider this week. “I think they’re going to announce it soon.”
He continued:
It’s crazy. I didn’t think that would be my first franchise. I never thought that would ever be the direction of my career. But that said, it’s just proof that I don’t know best, all the time. It was the most fun I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to get back in and mix it up with those guys.
The sequel, tentatively titled Magic Mike XXL will welcome a new director, Greg Jacobs, and feature MM star Channing Tatum as a co-writer. There’s been no official announcement regarding whether the original cast will return for XXL, so for now, we can only hope Matt Bomer is down to strip once again.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Production details are still scarce for now, but there’s at least one thing we can absolutely count on: Tons of half naked gifs on opening weekend!

I wonder if it will be less heteronormative than the last one. I hope so, because the eye candy is the only reason the last one was worth watching. The story was boring (to me at least).

I liked the first movie. It is nothing out of the ordinary, but not only the boys, but also the story caught my attention.

Eh, lack of Stephen Soderbergh brings the interest way down for me (I’ve got to be the ONLY person of any orientation who saw ‘Magic Mike’ for that reason, ha ha) but I’ll probably check it out.

@enfilmigult: STEVEN Soderbergh. I always do that.

The first movie was boring despite the eye candy. I don’t think I’m interested in a sequel.

If they manage to find room for a gay character this time, I might check it out. But two male stripper films in a row with no gay character, and the accusations that met the first movie about straightwashing everything are gonna ring a whole lot louder.

@Jonty Coppersmith: Is that why you navigated to this post and left a comment, because the first film bored you and you’re not interested in a sequel? Yeah, sure.
