An 18-year-old adult film performer who’d appeared in at least three scenes for Corbin Fisher has committed suicide after reportedly firing a gun in the restaurant he’d just been fired from.
Christopher Luke McAteer, who went by ‘Clay’ online, was the suspect in a workplace shooting at Ninki’s Japanese Restaurant in Owensboro, Kentucky. Police reports cite the incident occurring around 8:15 on a Saturday night. McAteer was reportedly arguing with another employee, and was fired after making threats.
About fifteen minutes later, he drove his car past the restaurant and fired five shots at the building. No one was hurt.
He was discovered later that evening in Butler County, KY with a self inflicted gunshot wound, and died at the hospital the next morning, on Easter Sunday.

McAteer’s family released a long obituary, some of which reads:
…he was reared in a Christian home where he was taught about the love and sovereignty of God, and, most importantly, the grace and forgiveness found through His son, Jesus Christ. […] Thankfully, Luke knew the Lord, and had recently rededicated his life. He had been pursuing a daily relationship with Christ in the recent weeks before his unfortunate loss with the battle of depression.

We must, believe it or not, remember that it has NOT been said what the argument was about. It could have had nothing at all to do with his porn videos. It is still not known if his job/boss were aware or even gave a shit about it.
Regardless of age, to do porn and put it on the net requires a “I don’t give a flying fuck who sees it” attitude. I personally prefer what is referred to as “amateur” porn (two guys who know each other filmed the encounter and posted it on the net in mutual agreement). I love Clay. I wish I would have known Luke. He should have just gone to Hollywood or New York and tried his luck. He had guts, but not the fortune it takes to keep on living. He had goodness, but no way to express it without destructiveness, his only response to the resistance he felt all around him. He was alone, like all of us, with no clear way out. Wouldn’t it have been marvelous if just one of us had been able to shine a light, not on the path to spiritual devotion, but on a road where Luke could have met Clay face-to-face and made art out of their shared misery and overwhelming need to communicate, to ENTERTAIN AND BE LOVED FOR IT? If that would have happened, we might be celebrating a life instead of mourning a death. But that, like all of life, is a dream that ends too soon.

This is such a shock to me. I saw his scenes just a week ago and what I saw was a handsome, sweet, innocent, young guy who had a certain lovable quality to him that I don’t think many porn actors have. I never would have guessed he had any troubles in his day to day life. Not once did it ever seem like he didn’t enjoy what he was doing on screen. I’m incredibly saddened that he felt his only escape from shooting at the restaurant was for him to commit suicide. Maybe he didn’t want to live with the disappoint or deal with any of the consequences. Please refrain from disrespecting him. We’ll never know what he was going through, and I can only hope he’s resting in peace.

Matt’s death was ruled a suicide by the coroner due to a ambiguous text he sent to his girlfriend shortly before his death. However, his family and and friends believe it was a tragic accidental overdose. The fundraising you refer to was set up by an overseas fan to pay for his funeral without the family’s knowledge, leading to wrongful accusations they were trying to cash in on his death. Matt self-identified as heterosexual in his private life but was open with his family and friends about performing in gay and bisexual porn. His scenes can still be found at Corbin Fisher.

Why don’t we all just agree that all teen suicide is tragic. I don’t care if the person is part of the LGBTQ or even straight. Another person has taken their own life because whatever trouble they faced, they sadly saw their own death as the only solution.

People with pre-existing mental conditions may gravitate towards porn because it’s very extreme. You’re having sex with people in a rigorous, often emotionally-disengaged way that doesn’t necessarily result in your own personal pleasure but is done rather for this performance quality wherein success hinges upon being perpetually desired. It’s a pretty crazy situation to put yourself in, particularly if you’re one of these gay-for-pay types because you’re even further removed personal fulfillment.
I wonder if part of the problem also is that porn and overt sexuality is stigmatized so it makes the idea of partaking in it more alluring to people who are self-destructive. I also think homophobia is tied in with it, I remember this gay porn guy Malachi Marx decided to write a book on how not-gay he was. Well, it never came to fruition and he disappeared then resurfaced as a series of different escorts with different names and different looks. The amount of shame and self-loathing that would prompt someone to run from themselves so much must be pretty strong.

It is widely known that adult actors use methamphetamine to perform better. If he already suffered from a mental disorder, using stimulants only causes that disorder to worsen. Living in the South apparently didn’t help matters either. We all know that this poor individual probably had few healthy, supportive LGBT relationships due to geography. At 18, he was also most likely devoid of any sense of self worth, yet. I hate that the adult film industry preys on the naivety of youth.

@Ron Jackson: Yes, this is very sad and totally unnecessary. He was depressed; depression can be a serious disease, even fatal sometimes. His family had no interest in supporting him; they just wanted to save him thru christ and religion. That was utterly absurd because he had chosen a path that did not include religion and he was out and proud. Who else could he turn to for such a fundamental, personal and serious medical issue? If he had a doctor he trusted, he could turn there and get sent to the kind of person that could help him. His family has no idea how to help him, all they know is their evangelical religion that they allow to rule their lives; why think or feel if it’s all be figured out for you as is the case in the evangelical families. If he was in a sever crisis, he should go the the ER of a major hospital; the Emergency Room has the doctors to get you through the crisis and passed on to the medical people that can help him. This hits a nerve as I was raised mormon, one of those all encompassing religions and it totally sucked for me. It’s a shame he didn’t know about potential resources to help him through the emotional crisis he was in, he just might be alive today.

As much as you may hate and distrust Christianity, there’s no need to turn this tragedy into a story about Christianity vs the sex worker industry. There’s NO proof he struggled with his “christian” upbringing nor is there ANY proof her had any conflict within himself over religion vs sex. His parents and the media ignore the fact that he was addicted to meth, coke, and probably heroin, was a male prostitute that was HIV+, and that he was a meth dealer. That being said he did not deserve to die the way he did even if it was not a hate crime and he was not killed for being gay; but was killed by two tweakers that were rival drug dealers over money, meth, or eliminating him as competition since it was a small town and he was a rival dealer.
