19-year-old mother of two Haley B. Adkerson (pictured) is charged with counts of blackmail, conspiracy to commit a felony, and child neglect after she and her boyfriend threatened to out a former classmate as “a homosexual” if he didn’t pay them $500 in cash.

The incident happened in Enid, Oklahoma (pop. 50,725) earlier this month. According to an affidavit, police received a call on July 6 from a man who claimed someone was threatening to reveal his secret “homosexual lifestyle on Facebook.”

That “someone” was Adkerson’s boyfriend, whose name has not been released.

Sgt. Bryan Hart was assigned the investigate the matter. When Hart followed up with the victim, he learned the alleged blackmailer was a former high school classmate of the man who initially contacted him on Facebook earlier in the year and had been harassing him for months.

In addition to sending threatening Facebook messages, the victim told Hart that he had also received text messages and a creepy handwritten note in his mailbox.

Hart then used the victim’s phone to communicate with the alleged blackmailer/boyfriend. They arranged a meeting at a local United Supermarket on July 8, where the boyfriend instructed the victim to “give the money to my partner” (aka Haley B. Adkerson).

Little did he or Adkerson know, the whole thing was a sting operation.

When Adkerson pulled up at the scene to collect the 500 smackeroos, she was met by two Narcotics Unit members, who arrested her on the spot. Her two children, ages 3 and 5, were in the car with her.

Adkerson admitted to delivering the handwritten note, but she told police that she was simply following her boyfriend’s instructions. Unfortunately for her, authorities weren’t convinced. She now faces up to life in prison plus a $5,000 fine for child neglect, up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine for blackmail, and up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine for conspiracy. The boyfriend has also been arrested and is currently being held in the Jefferson County jail.

The moral of the story: Don’t fuck with the gays.
