2 Indian Lesbians, 17, Attempt Suicide After Families Deny Them Marital Blessing

Pooja and Bharati, a lesbian couple in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, reportedly attempted suicide by ingesting poison today after informing their families of their intent to marry — and being shunned. The 17-year-olds have both been hospitalized and are said to be in stable condition. But: Their wish to marry each other has not been diminished.
