4 Summer Swimwear Tips For Gay Men

Swimwear season can be a lot of fun. But it can also be nerve-racking experience when it comes to picking out your summer swimsuit. Especially for gay men. We will cautiously slip into that first swimsuit of the season then look in the mirror and pick out each and every flaw we think we have: pale skin, skinny legs, a missing six pack… the list goes on.

Luckily The Underwear Expert has some well practiced advice for you to get the most out of your swimsuit this summer and – even better – feel and look good while wearing it. Check out an overview of the tips below as well as a gallery that demonstrates some of them, and then head on over to The Underwear Expert for more details on these 4 Summer Swimwear Tips.

Tip 1: Find a suit that compliments your body type.

Tip 2: If you’re hairy, the main question you need to ask yourself is: what am I willing to shave?

Tip 3: Learn the art of skin tone matching. Fair skin tones look better in dark colors; medium skin tones look best in primary colors; and darkest skin tones pull off whites and pale colors the best.

Tip 4: Get something that picks up where you leave off (enhancing swimwear). These come in two basic forms: package enhancing and butt lifting.

Why the demand that some guy with a few strands of hair on his chest shave? Get over this creepy demand that to look good you must look like a prepubescent boy on steroids. It’s weird.

If you’re hairy, do not shave. There’s nothing wrong with having body hair if you’re a grown man. No need to try and mimic an infant or a pre-adolescent boy.

Why bother? according to these people if you don’t spend your life at the gym you don’t actually exist. If you’re over 30 you should just crawl up to some mountaintop and die.

Oh God here comes the Hair Nazis in to rain on everyone’s parade. Not having body hair doesn’t mean you’re trying to achieve a pre-pubescent look. Our entire species evolved so that we collectively have LESS hair not more. Stop trying to make body hair happen again, It’s not gonna happen.

@xtincta: We did evolve and we do have less hair than other animals, but we didn’t stop being mammals and we didn’t stop having hair, so, to answer the question, “What am I willing to shave?”: Nothing. Why should I? I am not a plucked chicken. I’m a human; I have hair.

@xtincta: actually, to correct a misconception you appear to cling to: yes, shaving off all of your body hair DOES make you look pre-pubescent. the fashion industry has been doing everything in its power to promote “youth” as the ideal, and have gone to the ridiculous extreme that one should actually not even look “adult” to look good.
Women without breasts, men without bodily hair… those aren’t healthy body images to promote.

I prefer trimmed body hair and a smooth chest. I’m not really into body hair, although a modest amount is fine. That is my own preference, although I know that some people like things differently.

That being said, the worst “look” in my opinion is when a man shaves his pubic hair down to nothing. In my (own) opinion that is disgusting and intolerable. I really don’t get the appeal to making your privates look as if you’re a prepubescent boy. Not attractive or masculine in MY opinion.

I fell for it, I actually thought they were going to show some suits on realistic bodies. The real positive is that they didn’t picture anyone is board-shorts.

Two blog before this is a story about a guy with anorexia and his body issues, then Queerty posts this? Let’s see real people for a change and not greased up models.

I agree petensfo. Time for board shorts to go the way of the one piece bathing suits if the early 20th century. As for seeing “real people” No I don’t think so. I want to see great looking fit models. If I want to see ‘real people” which really means ( fat out of shape people) usually requested by (fat out of shape people)…I can go to any local swimming hole to see the blobs.

Some people like the smooth look, some people like the hairy look. Me, I like them both. My fiance is deliciously hairy. Mmmmmm. But that doesn’t mean I about die any time I see a smooth guy. I find smooth guys hot too. Some guys are naturally smooth btw. I like the last pic because of the perky nipples on the guys. :-D

@John Doe: Now THAT I agree with. I hate when men manscape down there. And when the pubic area is bald, THAT looks prepubescent and makes me want to puke, especially when they are between the ages of 18 and 22. Truly does make them look like little children. BLECH.

I quit working at shoprite to work online and with a little effort I easily bring in around $45 to 85 per/h. Without a doubt this is the easiest and most financially rewarding job I’ve ever had. I actually started 6 months ago and this has totally changed my life. Here’s what I do Going1.C0M

Eh, I feel like the question of whether to shave or not depends on the person you’re with. Some guys prefer that I shave, others don’t. Nothing wrong with keeping things trim.

There is no one ideal body image for everyone to follow so the idea that everyone should cling to only one ideology more than another is silly. Furthermore shaving off your body hair isn’t an issue of “unhealthy” body image. Is it shallow? Somewhat, but no more so than promoting body hair as a way to obtain authentic masculinity.

It’s funny you say a plucked chicken because they’re actually PLUCKED for a reason. Nobody wants to eat a chicken full of feathers, you should take note. And Humans also have moles, warts, crooked teeth, and foreskin but we’ve overcome those irregularities so why should we continue to hold another unsightly irregularity like body hair?

Wait… Why do you have to shave something to look good in a bathing suit at the beach?

@xtincta: How is the foreskin, a natural and harmless part of the body, in any way similar to warts and crooked teeth? I don’t get American beauty standards sometimes…

The picture you post with this “tip” seems to refute the tip: “Fair skin tones look better in dark colors; medium skin tones look best in primary colors; and darkest skin tones pull off whites and pale colors the best.”

My body type isn’t pictured. Guess I shouldn’t think about swimming then. And I do not look good in pale or white, I look like a penguin.

Tip #21: Try a nude beach at least once. You may decide to ditch the swimwear-choice mafia once and for all. (And yes, you can find ALL body types there.

ALL of those things mentioned are natural and can be relatively harmless too but they are often seen as unsightly.

I keep mine slightly above the knee. Nothing flashing, just basic colors. As far as shaving my chest, not happening. I keep it trimmed though, you never know who you may meet.

Just go out onto the street.
Look at young men under 30.
      Gay or straight or whatever.
      They have beards.
      Their body hair is natural.
Whatever it is, light to heavy, it’s just natural.

The fashion trend has already moved on.
Trimmed, waxed, plucked already look terribly dated.
Very 2003 or very Jersey Shore.

The only constant in fashion is that the fashionistas believe the fashion of the moment is eternal, when in reality that pendulum is swinging all the time.
