I love the Italian stove top makers, not quite espresso, but much better than brewed coffee and are relatively cheap for the quality of the caffeine coming out. They even make cappuccino makers that foam the milk. Mine works great, just a bit more pricey than the regular makers...and don't make large enough volumes. We go through the 9 cup maker between us in the mornings, so the cappuccino maker is usually for brunches and other occasions. Good stuff. Much better than paying for coffee shop stuff.

50 cents a cup? Where do you live? In New York coffee is at least a buck and cappuccino is $2.50-$3.50. Anyway, another alternative is a classic Italian stovetop espresso pot. No foamed milk, but the espresso is great and they cost around $12.
