Prior to the Supreme Court’s decisions on DOMA and Prop 8, several celebrities stated they would not get married until the gay community legally could. Today’s decisions prompted many to finally embrace the act of marriage and propose to their significant others. Cheers to these big names (and those across the country) who got engaged. (Us single boys look on in sweet envy.)
Ted Allen and Barry Rice
“We discussed it for years,” Allen (pictured in the middle with Rice) told HuffPo. “As celebratory as it is to have states permit marriage, we’ve always wanted to wait for the real thing when it was genuinely recognized by the federal government of the greatest country on earth.”

The actress tweeted “@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove.” Shepard responded with: “DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let’s bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!”

Chief Justice John Roberts’ cousin Jean Podrasky
“I am so excited. I am absolutely overwhelmed,” Podrasky told Talking Points Memo. “I can now get married. I feel like my partner and I have been in limbo for several years. We’ve been engaged for a couple years, but now we can start planning.”

@MickeyP.: The lesbian marriages will end in divorce at twice the rate of str8t marriages. Just watch. Women bail on marriage all the time, if they are not happy, no reason to make it work, just leave and get as much as you can along the way.
