5 Years After Zoliswa Nkonyana Was Stabbed And Beaten To Death, Her Accused Killers Have Yet To Face Justice

The family of Zoliswa Nkonyana, the South African lesbian killed in 2006 (whose accused murderers managed to escape from prison in September, though they were later apprehended), will have to wait until 2011 for any hope of justice: The murder trial has been postponed for the thirty-first time. Nine men have managed to escape their fate for nearly five years after allegedly chasing, beating with a golf club, pelting with bricks, and stabbing Zoliswa to death. For being gay. The trial has finally been set for March 7, 2011 — a month after the five-year anniversary of her death.
