Yes this event is ok. The Uganda law is only the beginning for legalization for killing gays in the US. They want civil rights or civil war so now some is getting upset for taking gays at their word. Aren’t they happy to die for their cause? I requested the leader of the gay killing militia be transfered to Los Angeles along with Bin Laden’s daughter.

You know, the article didn’t really say what the school had to do with anything. This appears to be completely outside of school to me.

If anyone’s to blame, it’s Facebook for allowing this event to be posted. However, I don’t really think there’s anyone to blame and we should all just deal with the fact that there are a lot of asses out there online and they’ll always be around so we should learn to just deal with it.

They didn’t actually kill anybody, I’m sure, and this isn’t a crime, however much we don’t like it. No one should get expelled or arrested. Maybe take away their Facebook accounts if you’re really upset, but that’s all you can legally do.

The points you make are very valid.

However, we should not overlook the fact that the bigotry and hatred these fucked-up kids are displaying, often originates at home and is a reflection of the parents thinking and attitudes toward LGBT people.

These kids were not born hating gays. They had to learn it someplace.

This is something we need to keep in mind when we hear about public school teachers and principals who look the other way when when LGBT kids are taunted and beaten on in our public school system.

The teachers are also the parents of these kids.

I guess nobody on this post has kids. Unless you can prove the parents encouraged hate, did nothing to stop the event or similar I don’t see how we can hold parents responsible. Many kids are very good liars and doing things your parents don’t approve of is a game for many to appear “cool.” A coworker I used to clean house for had a daughter. They seemed to have a very good relationship with their kids and the oldest one kept it a secret that she was pregnant for 7-1/2 months!

#6 Al, thanks for the answer. You’re probably right and how pathetic. So if these kids are so easily influenced, and we are talking about KILLING, not teasing, then they should be incarcerated as a danger to society since they’re so easily influenced (and for stupidity)!

Well, Nicholas, I’d start by finding the perps and anyone who helped them. Refer them to legal authorities, alert the school and the parents. Then, I’d go after the people who aided, abetted or assisted, including those who RSVP’d “Yes.” I’d spend the rest of my trying to understand what you were trying to see what you meant in post No. 19,. Then I would go to work–my job.

I would guess, that because it’s high school related, that a number of these bigots are under eighteen. So, their names will probably not be released and/or their “juvenile records” will be expunged.

Also, they will probably try to put some kind of spin on it with a lame excuse like they only said they were going to show up so they could explain that this is wrong and they want to talk people out of it.

I’m confident the wingnuts will come up with something to help them out of this.

Too bad it can’t be on their permanent transcripts. It might hinder them from being accepted at progressive colleges. Although, it would probably get them a scholarship at Liberty or Regent Universities.

I grew up not far from there, and Chelmsford (known for its golden ginger ale) was a quiet middle-class independent town near Lowell. It’s now a commuting suburb of Boston, and not the quiet small town it used to be. Still, I’d bet the Facebook event “Kill all the Gay People” was a hoax some high school students designed to sucker morons into responding to it. So far, 9 morons have responded.

Wonder if the publicity about Uganda’s “kill the gays” bill inspired this? Expelled my ass, they used the net for this; that makes it a federal offense. The FBI needs to be involved. There should be prosecutions. Also, their parents need to be made very uncomfortable in a very public way, which, in Massachusetts will be very uncomfortable indeed.
