Sorry Tyson, but after the load of garbage you’ve contributed to the public discourse lately, it’s going to take a hell of a lot more than a peck on the cheek to win you any favor here.

Maybe a long romantic date followed by a night of fireworks in the bedroom with your man-crush would do the trick. Then the two of you could appear on the BBC the next day, hand in hand, to humbly backtrack that whole “comparing gay people to pedophiles” thing.

The boxer and controversial contender for the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award was out drinking in a Lancashire bar when he was approached by gay shop manager Paul Cole.

Cole challenged Fury over his recent homophobic comments, which in addition to the pedophilia comparison have included saying homosexuality will bring about the end of days.

“I told him, ‘I can’t stand you,'” Cole, 41, explained to The Sun. “He said he wasn’t homophobic and suddenly rubbed my beard and kissed me on both cheeks. I’ve changed my mind about him.”

“He’s a big friendly giant who’d float my boat if he was gay,” he added.

The over 125,000 people who’ve signed a petition to remove Fury from the short list for the award are likely not so easily won over by a little genie bottle beard rub.

“They can suck my balls,” Fury said in response to his opposition. “How about that for a bit of heavyweight-champion talking?”

The winner of the award will be announced this Sunday, December 20th.
