Pennsylvania state legislator Brian Sims has ended his campaign for Congress. The hunky civil rights lawyer became the state’s first openly gay member of the state legislature when he was elected in 2012. He represents a slice of Philadelphia that includes the gayborhood.

In a statement emailed to supporters and posted on his Facebook page, Sims wrote:
I wanted to personally let you know that today I have decided to end my campaign for U.S. Congress.
When I started this campaign it was because I felt Philadelphians deserved an advocate in Congress – someone who would focus on equality for all Americans, creating more and better jobs, and ending the culture of gun violence in our streets.Having walked the streets of the District, and spoken to thousands of neighbors and constituents, I now feel that my friend and colleague, Dwight Evans, is best equipped to take our fight for justice to Washington, DC and will serve Philadelphia well in Congress.
This was not an easy decision, but please know that I am so grateful for your help and support over these past few months.
For now, I have a re-election campaign to win and I hope that you will continue to support my efforts, especially as I work to expand civil rights and fight for justice and equality as a State Representative.
In support and solidarity,
Brian

Is today beefcake hump day? Should be a thing on here!

He is a hot stud. I would like to fuck him and give him advice on politics.

Brian Sims has a future as a model, porn star or legitimate actor. He’s too good looking for politics.
Creamsicle
Good decision, Sims. Washington is Hollywood for ugly people. You would never have fit in there. Plus being locked in a constant fundraising battle to stay in the US Congress sounds like a miserable existence. Do you really want to risk having lunch near Ted Cruz? Nobody can keep food down while looking at that face.

Sorry to hear that Brian has made this decision but sure it was not made lightly. He had been a prime example of being a representative to the people of PA and to the LGBT community. Can we PLEASE lay off on how sexy he is or how F***able and look at the man. I know he gets really upset when people come on to him or don’t take him seriously because of his looks. He is a perfect politician and I totally respect him for that and for his decision.
Sweetie Pie
I want to do an internship with him…where do I send my resume ?

@ryantbo: He gets really upset? Oh, the burden of being born so beautiful. What a heavy cross that must be.
ryantbo
@avesraggina Yeah imagine being a public servant and all anyone wants to talk about is how great you look or how F****able you are. Isn’t that a BIT disrespectful?
footwork61
@Creamsicle: Except that he is a representative in the Pennsylvania Assembly, so he is already locked in that constant fundraising struggle. The good news for him is that in Philly, dems have an almost 7 to 1 registration advantage. Unless he has a primary challenger, he’s pretty much a shoo-in.

Wishing you all the best legislator Sims.
When the time is right try again.
avesraggiana
@ryantbo: No, it’s not a BIT disrespectful. It’s a LOT disrespectful. And it’s also totally HOT.

@ryantbo: I completely agree that he’s been and will continue to be, an excellent politician. I disagree though, that he gets upset about his sexy image. He wouldn’t post the pics he posts if he wasn’t playing that angle, too. Why not? He’s great looking. I’m happy that he’s also a solid pol who seems to be on my side of the political fence.

@footwork61: Mr. Sims is no longer locked into the fundraising struggle, as he is not running again.

Guys, guys, guys…
Let me clear it up for you… Mr. Sims has officially retired to a private life with ME! We are engaged, and fabulously happy! It’s just really hard to type right now, because this strappy jacket is so tight and they only allow us so much time on the computer before the drugs kick in. Haha! Just kidding.
Good for him. Hopefully this can end his carreer in Washington (temporarily) and allow him to either focus on local elections in Pennsylvania (who could handidly use him in many capacities), or go the more traditional route and start working for the best paying lobbyists.
I understand, but find it trivial, that he would complain about his ‘good looks’. Move past it. Use it, empower it. When someone says ‘Hey Sexy,’ say ‘the only thing sexier is my voting record. How did you vote?’. Whining about it, is how it is coming across. I can completely empathize – being judged by your looks is damning – but he has an advantage of being pretty. A poor politican, is a poor politician – the best ones learn to use every skill to their advantage. He has to learn to be the change if he wants to see it – and he is well motivated, and provides the perfect assets to be that change. Stop ‘whining’ about it, and do something about it.

He is SO cute. I wanna love him and take care of him.
ryantbo
@Billy Budd: I think he has that covered

@Sukhrajah:Hello Sukhrajah, thanks for posting this on your soone to be husband’s behalf! You wrote “A poor politican, is a poor politician” and to that I say ” A vote based on someones looks, is a poor voter”. I as a gay man too am very pleased to see gay men and women in the political field! We must continue the good fight of equality freedoms! Remember Harvey Milk!
