Generally we expect attacks on Matthew Shepard to come from the far right. The Michael Savages and the Tony Perkins, who are in denial about the homophobic element to his murder. But then along comes uber-progressive rag The American Prospect arguing we've erred in making Matthew the face of gay rights. Say wha'? CONTINUED »
Just as Don Imus finds a new platform on the Fox Business Network, fellow bigot Michael Savage gets kicked off his homebase: Clear Channel's San Francisco radio station just dropped him. Permanently. CONTINUED »
Was that The New Yorker's Kelefa Sanneh (in a subscriber-only article) stopped short of calling the radio host a bigot. We're pretty sure Sanneh didn't even call him a conspiracy theorist! Which, frankly, is irresponsible journalism.

We've noted the perception of whiteness in the gay rights movement before. Some folks insist on making race part of the debate; others times, the evidence is irrefutable. And without a single leader, however, it's impossible to say our civil rights fight is led only by the light-skinned. But to anyone tuning in to the media's conversation on the issue, it might appear that way. CONTINUED »
With companies like Exxon Mobil stripping away obligations to and protections for gay employees (and year after year, refusing to reinstate them), perhaps it's time for a primer on why corporations should offer benefits to GLBTs and protect them with non-discrimination policies. And given Exxon Mobil sits at the bottom of Queerty's list of "10 Companies That Hate the Gays," perhaps they should be the first to take notice. CONTINUED »
Russell Weiner is the chief executive of Rockstar Energy Drinks. He's also the son of Mike Savage, the anti-gay radio host whose real name is Mike Weiner. But don't let the one generation separation make you think father and son have different agendas: CONTINUED »
Because the United Kingdom's home secretary Jacqui Smith announced Michael Savage (aka Michael Weiner) was on the nation's banishment list, Savage says he's going to sue her for defamation. No, really, he's serious! Says Savage: "For this lunatic Jacqui Smith, the home secretary of England [sic], to link me up with skinheads who are killing people in Russia, to put me in [the same] league with mass murderers who kill Jews on buses, is defamation. I thought this was a joke or a mistake … How could they put Michael Savage in the same league with mass murderers when I have never avowed violence?" That's so funny, Michael! Because WE'LL TELL YOU. FIZZY LOGIC–PepsiCo announced a multi-year deal with the makers of so bad it's bad for you energy drink Rockstar, which is owned by conservative shock jock Michael Savage, who's referred to us by such nice names as "sodomites" and has told us that we should all "get AIDS and die." This comes after Pepsi was targeted by the American Family Association for donating a cool million to the Human Rights Campaign. What's that about pleasing all of the people all of the time? You can voice your displeasure with Pepsi here.
Columbus Circle in New York City was filled with chants of "Gay, Straight, Black, White, Marriage is a Civil Right!" as thousands of protesters came out in opposition to California's Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California last week. The event was the largest protest outside of California so far and shows how quickly and rapidly organized opposition to Prop 8. has sprung up across the country.

Michael Savage has done it again – the conservative radio host told listeners last week that supporters of gay marriage must either be "insane" or "hate the Bible." He also said same-sex nuptials are a "threat to civilization itself." We'd venture to guess people like Savage are more dangerous than two homos tying the knot… [On Top]
We like freedom of speech. Hell, we've made a living on it, but some right-wingers are clearly abusing their American right when it comes to Barack Obama's short campaign break, which he's using to visit his ill grandmother:
Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, and Jerome Corsi suggested or asserted that the true purpose of Sen. Barack Obama's current trip to Hawaii is not to visit his ailing grandmother, as Obama claims, but rather to address rumors — widely debunked — that Obama has failed to produce a valid U.S. birth certificate. However, in addition to FactCheck.org and a Hawaiian Health Department official, even Corsi's employer, the right-wing website WorldNetDaily, has reportedly determined that the birth certificate provided by the Obama campaign is authentic.
We'd say this trio should be ashamed of themselves, but they clearly don't experience such an emotion.
The right sure has been having a field day reaming homo-politico Barney Frank.
First there was Fox News' Bill Sammon claiming the press had spared Congressman Frank negative press because he's gay.
The lusty bits stem from a relationship Frank – who heads the House Financial Services Committee – had with former Fannie Mae executive Herb Moses. Moses and Frank's relationship ended in 1998, the same year Moses left the doomed mortgage lender.

Anti-gay radio host Michael Savage got some bad news yesterday: "A federal judge has dismissed Savage's copyright infringement lawsuit against the Counsel on American-Islamic Relations, which had posted excerpts of one of his programs online. Judge Susan Illston in San Francisco ruled that the clips, totaling four minutes out of the two-hour Savage Nation program that ran on Oct. 29, 2007, constituted a fair use." [MediaPost]
"Super Talk Mississippi, which owns and operates seven conservative radio stations in Mississippi, issued a press release today stating that Michael Savage and his radio show Savage Nation had been canceled effective immediately. The radio broadcaster said Savage had crossed-the-line with comments he made about autistic children." For those of you living under a rock, Savage – who's savagely anti-gay – said that 99% of autistic children are just brats. [On Top]
Here's conservative radio host Michael Savage's advice on explaining homosexuality to children: "You've got to explain to the children…why God told people this was wrong. …You have to explain this to them in this time of mental rape that's going on. The children's minds are being raped by the homosexual mafia, that's my position. They're raping our children's minds." [Media Matters]
Michael Savage made some more jaw-dropping history this week. The legendarily out-spoken radio host used Tuesday's show to discuss AIDS on the African continent. Savage first had a firey exchange with a caller he dubbed "Kojo" and then offered this analysis of the United States' HIV prevention and treatment programs: "We're not supposed to criticize the president because he wants to send $45 billion to that corrupt continent — for AIDS, which is a behavioral disease. It can be controlled only by behavior, not by money. Oh, education has really worked for the AIDS epidemic in America. It's really stopped the homosexual community from interacting in their well-known manners."
His evidence? They called for an advertisers to boycott anti-Islam radio host Michael Savage. How sinister!
Hysterical news anchor Alycia Lane ain't laughing this morning. Philadelphia's ABC brass decided to sack Lane after the brunette went ape shit last month in New York.
Alycia Lane "has been released from her contract effective immediately," KYW-TV said in a statement Monday, the day she had been due back on air.Lane is accused of scuffling with a plainclothes female officer during a traffic dispute last month. A police complaint also said she used a sexual slur. Lane has denied the allegations.
…
"After assessing the overall impact of a series of incidents resulting from judgments she has made, we have concluded that it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories," station president and general manager Michael Colleran said in the statement.
Lane's attorney described the dismissal as "unfair".
In case you don't recall, Lane allegedly attacked a female copper, whom she called a "dyke bitch". We'd expect such language from Michael Savage, not a pretty female reporter. Of course, Lane's not the most stable: she once emailed steamy pictures of herself to married Rich Eisen. No wonder Playboy wants Lane's goods.
Matt Barber simply can't wrap his closed, conservative mind around the trans experience. Nor does the Concerned Women of America member* have much love for those of us who do:
Liberal ideology and political correctness, infused with public policy, begets social insanity.Case in point: A recent report on a popular homosexual "news" site declares, "A transgendered student says he is the victim of discrimination at a small Massachusetts community college because he is biologically female."
Say what? "He" is "female"? Welcome to PC-ville. Come for the oxymoron, stay for the cognitive dissonance.
As much as we loathe Barber's perspective, we have to admit he makes us laugh.
We'd also like to note that Barber's Renew America piece begins with a quote from anti-gay radio host Michael Savage. It's a match made in homophobic heaven, which sounds a lot like hell to us!
Barber belongs to a women's group, but slams people who want to be women. Just saying…
Radio host Michael Savage tainted the air waves with his repulsively closed mind Monday. A caller phoned in to ask why Savage refused to attend last week's Republican debates. Savage first explains the bad blood between him and the news channel – something about Whoopi Goldberg, Al Sharpton and Joy Behar plotting a character attack on Larry King Live – and how Ted Turner set up a "bear trap" for conservatives.
From there, Savage launches a verbal assault on "Anderson Blooper" and Keith Kerr, the retired brigadier who asked the presidential candidates about Don't Ask, Don't Tell. And, from what we gather, Savage isn't so keen on Kerr:
I don't care about this old queen, frankly. He disgusts me to make — my flesh crawls from the old queen. That was a general? Now you wonder why we're still in Iraq five years later. General — with General Keith Kerr, you know why we're still in Iraq five years later. That's all. He wasn't just racking up cue balls at the pool table. I'm sick of it! I'm sick of the whole country, it's like Rome! It's melting down like Rome!
Christ, won't someone feed Savage to the lions, already?
The 65-year old commentator also commented on Cooper's sexuality: "Why don't you enlist, Anderson? I'm not saying you're gay. But you certainly could enlist if you're so interested in "do ask do tell.""
Michael Savage sure pissed off Ellen Andersen when he used to his radio show to compare lesbians to Nazi henchmen. Anderson – whose father spent time in a concentration camp – uses this impassioned, yet guilt-ridden post to protest Savage's deplorable comparison.
I recognize that Savage is being hateful to score ratings points and that the more I react to him the more he's "won." But at the same time, Savage’s reflexive invocation of Nazis and the Holocaust is dangerous.
…
Savage’s diatribe about Nazis and the Holocaust is all about: it’s verbal porn that dehumanizes its subjects—both the “lesbians†and the “oven stuffersâ€â€”for the voyeuristic pleasure of his audience.
The scariest part: about 7 million Americans voluntarily watch Savage's show.
Two Arizonan queers clearly don't respect traffic laws:
Two gay men who were in an argument at Phoenix's Metro Center Mall risked killing themselves and motorists as they took their fight to the I-17 Freeway at rush hour. One of them had reportedly threatened to commit suicide. They were arrested shortly thereafter.
How long until Michael Savage turns this into some gay plot to run straights off the road and spread mayhem?
A big congratulations to conservative radio host Michael Savage!! We didn't think it possible, but he's reached a new low. Yes, lower than when he called a tazer-happy university cop a "bull-dyke fascist". And way lower than that time he equated gay parenting with child abuse. You're no doubt wondering, "What could be worse than calling gay parents abusers?" Media Matters provides the putrid details:
On the November 8 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation, a caller told host Michael Savage that while waiting at a stoplight in Midtown Manhattan, "I'm listening to you with the window open. This mean-faced, clipped-hair, liberal type — you know, the type you always talk about. … She comes up to my window and she goes, 'You're listening to hate speech. Why are you listening to that?'"
Savage replied to the caller's anecdote by saying, "Well, what does that tell you about the loving, kind lesbian who just assaulted you in your car?" He continued: "She's a — the type that stuffed ovens in [Adolf] Hitler's concentration camps. Whenever I hear anyone preaching to me about how compassionate they are, I reach for my Glock. That's all I can tell you. They can all drop dead."
Incredible, right? Not only does Savage imply lesbians helped Hitler destroy millions of people, he admits his own murderous rages! And gays are the evil ones.
We have to give Savage even more credit for curbing his overuse of the word "fascist". He only used it once in this rant, but sure as shit made it count: "[Lesbians are] the Nazis – the cryptofascists walking around."
Conservative shitbag Michael Savage took another opportunity to smear left-leaning website Media Matters. While discussing Bill O'Reilly's Sylvia snafu, Savage again referred to MM as a "gay, fascist website". Does he even know the meaning of fascist?
Savage's words:
They [Media Matters] are simply a gay, fascist website without any guts whatsoever." He added, "[T]hey attack me, O'Reilly, or whoever they can get their hands on that's a conservative because they think that we're anti-gay. They're psychotic. They're off their medication most of the time.
…
They're a bunch of punk coward psychotics, so — I'm not on their side, don't get me wrong. They're vermin. They're utter vermin.
This from the man who called a female taser-happy cop as a "bull-dyke fascist". Does Savage even know what "fascist" means? He reminds us of those "rebellious" seventh-graders who hear their grandfather say something and then just repeat it willy-nilly.
It's no secret the Human Rights Campaign likes to think of itself as the biggest, most effective and ultimately best gay rights organization in America. The DC-based has pledged support to fighting for the rights of all American gays. Additionally, HRC often joins fights against other forms of injustice. As part of their mission, the non-profit lent its support to the Jena Six, a group of black teens jailed for allegedly beating up a white classmate.
The altercation came after months of rising racial tensions in the small Louisiana town of Jena. Many people, including the editors of this blog, feel that the Jena police force and school authorities were unfair in their handling of the case. The racial bias seems undeniable: white students were barely penalized for their racist actions – such as hanging nooses from a tree on school property – which only perpetuated historic tensions and led to the violent eruption. It could have been prevented, to be sure, but that doesn't make it any less violent. Nor does the violence make the justice system's harsh treatment and tenacity any less offensive.
Considering all the layers to this case, it's no surprise the Jena Six have become the hot activist ticket in recent weeks. And, as such, it's no surprise HRC stepped out to make their voice heard.
Gay journalist and hate crime survivor Chris Crain, however, wishes Solmonese and HRC had kept their mouths shut.

It's been so long since we heard from Michael Savage, we were beginning to think he'd gone soft.
As you can see, the conservative pundit, who previously took on the "gay mafia," worked some homophobic magic while reporting on Andrew Meyers' unconstitutional tasering.
We wonder how he knows the University of Florida copper likes coochie…
Michael Musto's Village Voice column reads like a eulogy this week as the gossipy gay mourns the loss of Gayville's greatest heroes: bottoms.
