Russia is a first world, rich, developed country, yet it’s easily giving the worst of the worst (Uganda, Jamaica, etc.) a run for their money. I guess it still is a whit better than Iran, which hangs or stones gay people to death. But not by much.

Appalling! I hate to think of what has not been reported or what will happen when the olympic spotlight is turned off of Russia.

@Stefano: That’s what I was wondering. I’m surprised we haven’t heard on of his strongly pro-Russia rants where he demands gay men travel to Russia (because the violent beating and possible death is sooooo worth the scenery, yall!)

Russia has never been a democratic country in its life. Its all pretence. In Russia extremes are the norm. Human Rights , Equal Rights have never existed.
LGBT will always have a precarious existence as the Law makers a have proven
with the “Stalinist “weapon “propaganda “. Yet Tzar Putin is not averse to show his “beautiful ” body in various situations. How perverse. There is little pressure from the West for change, the Sochi Olympics proved that, The public flocked to Sochi.
