In a post yesterday about prominent members of the gay community who appeared, based on information from the Los Angeles Times, not to have donated money to fight California's Proposition 8, we misidentified the president of Regent Entertainment Media; he is Paul Colichman, who donated $25,000 to fight Prop 8. (The snafu? Differentiating between Regent Entertainment Media and Regent Releasing.) We apologize for our error, and ask you not hold our mistake against Regent.

And that's what you get for trying to affirm a negative. It was shoddy tactic in the first place and has obviously turned out quite embarrassing.
How much did Queerty's editors and editorial director donate? Just wondering. Shouldn't that be included in the tally if you're calling out gay media types?
I hold nothing against Regent or any of the other "supposed" non donators you irresposibly listed.
That posting should never have been made in the first place without strong concrete facts to back it up. You used a partial incomplete list and made GUESSES about who didn't donate.
If anyhting you should be deleting that story and aplogizing to your readers. Your first two days here have been atrocious. I can only hope that theres someone above you at Jossip that has been following the past few days and realizes that you certainly ARE NOT the right man for the job.
Boycott Regent anyway! Arrrgh! So angry! Must smash!
@mikeoutwest:
lol @ Hulk tantrum
@Wolf: Harsh.
I think Japhy's doin' a fine job.
He's brand-new + already posted several topics that have gotten over a couple-hundred replies. I'd say he's doing something right.
@fredo777:
Fredo. Getting replies from sensationism and negativity makes him ready for The Drudge Report. It may be harsh. But its true. And as long as he posts stories irrespomsibly and without all the information the harshness will remain.
@Wolf: Feh.
His stories provoked a lot of responses which got a good dialogue going about the possible causes of Prop 8 passing, as well as the scapegoating of certain groups.
I am pretty pleased thus far, but to each his own.
@fredo777:
To each his own but the entire tome of Queerty has changed and garnering responses by misinformation especially on the Donor Report is not good jopurnalism.
But as you said to each his own.
people need to CHILL THE FUCK OUT
Stupid is as stupid does.
Japhy, dude, this has not been a great first week for you.
Relax.
Take a deep breath.
Now please think a little about what you're posting. Queerty's comments sections are filled with both wit and rancor (and some persistent racist trolls).
What bothered me about the previous article was that it seemed that you were off on a misguided scapegoating venture. Something bad happened and you wanted to join the party.
Attacking people for not giving money to a poorly run campaign does not seem like a noble act. Just how would the extra few bucks have benefited the No on 8 campaign? More money spent on ineffective commercials that featured no GLBT people?
Go after the institutions and their leaders behind Prop 8.
@George: plenty of the employees donated.
Like the point about saying what everyone at queerty donated if you are going down that route. That post should have never been started.
Still open to the new guy – but so far, none too pleased.
How much did Queerty donate?
