Because it still might be lingering on some of your DVRs, and you’ve been avoiding Twitter and Facebook all day because you didn’t want it ruined, we’re not going to say who it was above the jump.
And the winner wuz … Tyra Sanchez! She beat Jujubee and Raven in what was, we should all admit, really a win FOR BEYONCE.
Her exit interview is here. And below, Boy Culture interviews Tyra before she found out she won.
Cam
But everybody knew Tyra would Win. Ru Paul NEVER wants anybody who is a showperson to win, She just wants somebody who is basically like Ru Paul and she is VERY VERY big on if they are “Pretty”. Tyra can’t speak, is a horrible host for events because her voice is monotone, and yet she won. Last year Rebecca stayed much longer than she should have only because Ru-Paul thought she was “Pretty”. Tyra should have gone home before both Pandora and Morgon.
Kieran
But if RuPaul’s drag queen show is finally over, what on earth will Logo air on “the gay channel”? Re-runs of RuPaul’s drag queen show?
REBELComx
Tyra is not a drag queen. She is a Beyonce impersonator. Everything she did from the beginning was Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce. She’s got no personality, a bad attitude, a horrid voice for a drag queen, is an annoying lazy ass with no charisma or real ambition, and is as dumb as a sack of bricks. She should have been OUT of the competition weeks ago. Final 3 should be been Raven, Juju, and either Pandora or Morgan (who’s wedding dress and photo I LOVED and don’t think deserved to be in the bottom 2. She’d have totally won the following week’s Rocker Chick competition).
Between all the queens this year, Pandora is definitely the one who’s gonna do something, with or without Drag Race. She’s a true drag queen – over the top, versatile, humorous, but sensitive and charismatic, and can definitely work any number. Most of the girls this year weren’t drag queens…they were female impersonators, and there is a big difference.
ugh…Tyra. Oh well, at least it wasn’t Tati.

@Cam: Co-sign. I hate to admit I love watching that guilty pleasture trashfest! Tyra was a little cruntfaced bitch who annoyed the crap out of contestants and viewers alike. And you are 100% correct with that gravely voice simply doesn’t fit a “Drag Superstar”. And talk about over playing the “I am doing this for my son” card!! Please Louise give it a freaking rest! There should be a degree of camp and fun in a Drag Queens attitute. Tyra failed big time, she is just not a likeable personality…………..
RuP needs to lessen her grip on that show a bit, her “Silence! I have made my decision” is a real turn off to the judges and some of the guest judges were very clearly ticked off at her attitute. The show actually got some guest judges who were solid B list this year. RuP keeps that act up and she is gonna be trolling the D- list once again. I am glad RuP has created a fun way to waste away an hour a week. She needs to take her own advice and “Dont fcuk it up”
Matthew Rettenmund
Thanks for the link, but the video was shot yesterday around 5PM, so while Tyra couldn’t say so, she’d known for a long time that she won.
And for the people venting for keeps…reassess your priorities, stat! It’s just a fun show. If you DO insist on taking it so seriously, then consider that Tyra did show a lot of growth from her initial, obnoxious self. And for a 20-year-old sleeping on someone’s couch to win something like this, more power to her. She’s gorgeous and was really funny and engaging to talk to even if you might not want to pay to see her do a drag show.
My personal fave was Pandora. My Miss Congeniality was Jujubee. But my guilty pleasure was Tati…
rodrigo
Im really dissapointed that Tyra won…I also felt that she was way too ghetto and unpolished to become a drag queen. I also agree that she won because she has a pretty face and looks like a “doll” (especially on the wedding challange) but what I don’t get is why everyone was hating on Tatiana being a “pretty face” when Tyra was also doing the exact same thing and the judges were going gaga over her- but when Tatiana got the same praise for being cute from the judges, Tyra and Raven were all mad at her.
If it had been up to me, Pandora Boxx should have won. She might not have been “glamorous” like Tyra but she had a style and essence of her own, unlike Tyra that looks like a Beyonce Barbie with a baby called Jeremiah.

@PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
RuPaul’s “Silence!” is clearly a joke, a lampoon of Tyra Banks imperious control over Top Model (to which Drag Race is clearly an homage). It’s even jump cut to make it look like an shift in mood. Obviously a tongue-in-cheek moment in each episode.
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
@Stm007: I know some of it is camp, but some of the guest judges had pretty sour pusses on when she belted that tune out, not sure they all realized they wouldn’t actually be doing any of the actual judging………
Disgusted American
seriously – next year – I know its Ru Pauls show and all..but, the Judges Imput SHOULD count…..I Hate that Tyra won….it should have been Raven,JuJu, and Pandora in the Finale…..and OUT of those 3..Id pick Pandora..then JuJu,then Raven….what a a disappointment!
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
100% agree with all above that Pandora should have won, she is what one should consider a “Drag Superstar”. Her oufit last night was classic. RuPauls Drag Race: What did she wear? Checkered flag pattern wrap, a hot wheels blouse, and a mag wheel head piece! Perfect camp! RebelComix’ description of Pandora was right on target……..
Tyra claims to have slept on her Drag Mothers couch……Wonder if some time on RuP’s couch may have gotten here “a-Head” of the competition??
DM1973
Pandora should’ve won, because she IS a drag queen. The final three should’ve been Pandora Boxx, Morgan McMichaels and Jessica Wild. This show though is more about being a RuPaul clone. The show is really a female impersonator competition, not drag queens. “Realness” and “Fish-i-ness” are the main criteria thus why Tatiana (Britney Spears Impersonator) and Tyra (Beyonce Clone)advance so far despite their lack of C.U.N.T.
This show is still a guilty pleasure and I enjoy it but really, after 2 episodes, who thought anyone but Tyra was going to win. She was never in the bottom 2. Ru would look at her like she was reminiscing of her youth. If the 3rd season produces another Ru clone as the winner, she’ll kill the show.

And what was that “I forgot to breathe” moment?

Wow….another black drag queen won Rupauls DR? Really?

Matthew, did you even read what you wrote? You wrote, “Even if you might not want to pay to see her do a drag show.”
You do realize that the supposed plot was “To Find American’s Next Drag Superstar.” So the fact that even in your defnese of her you say you may not want to pay to see her, pretty much sums up that she was a big fail as a Drag Queen.
christopher di spirito
Drag Race, season one, took everyone by surprise and delivered humor, attitude and fun.
But season two was a bore.
Tyra Sanchez (the “other Tyra”) is an untalented, humorless bitch and if (s)he is Charles RuPaul’s idea of “America’s next drag superstar,” then Charles RuPaul isn’t as savvy as I thought.
charlie
Worse show on tv. Right up there with the 700 Club. Will Logo go off cable now with this show?
Marvin
OMG…Tyra Really??? I agree with all the other posts on here in regards to her. Out of the final three I thought Juju B was the best. She was smart articulate catty when needed and would have presented a great person as a Drag Superstar.
Chapeau
I have to admit I got sucked into this show this season — didn’t see Season 1 so I have no comparison .. but Tyra?!? Really?!?
I was pissed that Pandora was kicked off.
chattycathy
I wasn’t surprised when Miss Tyra won–that tired ‘this is for my son, lalala’ and seeing also that she was a favorite pet. Pandora SHOULD have made it to the final 3 because she IS a true drag entertainer. Back in the day a drag queen HAD to be hilarious and able to entertain. Miss Tyra (whose voice sounds like a bad fog horn) bored me to tears! She IS beautiful, but once she opens her mouth to speak–the effect is shattered!
My faves of the show were Pandora, Tatiana (she did a fabulous Britney), Jessica Wild, Juju, Raven and Mystique.
And notice this: Plus-size queens are NEVER on the show for long either!
chattycathy
Logo should give Pandora her OWN reality TV show! That would be fantastic!
Brit
I thought Raven should have won out of the three finalists, Jujubee 2nd and Tyra should have swished away .. but I knew early into the show that Tyra would win, you could see it on Ru’s face that she really liked her and acted differently toward her than she did to other contestants. As for the ‘doing this for my son’ shtick, I think she should have been doing it because she lived, breathed and lo o oved doing drag and wanted to become the best she could be as a drag artist, now it just sounds like a sell out on several levels and all to do with $$$. In the end it was all about money and Ru has a shrewd eye, the younger you get em the more you can mold them and make off of em. Remember, always keep your eye on the cash flow in your future and don’t fcuk it up!!!
Ogre Magi
Well Tyra might be a bitch, but I sure wouldn’t mind getting a taste of her sweet chocolate ass!
WalkderDC
RuPaul made it obvious early on that Tyra was her favorite. RuPaul wants a female impersonator, not a Drag Queen.
fredo777
blah, blah fuckin blah. despite how annoying tyra was early on in the show, she has grown leaps + bounds over the course of the competition + deserved the win just as much as rayven or juju. her style on the runway was fresh + creative + she paid attention to little details that gave her a definite edge. not to mention, she clearly outshone Rayven in the final ‘lip sync for your life’ competition, as well as both other finalists in the “cat fight” routine. anyone who thought she should have gone home a long time ago has shitty taste.
matt
I’m disappointed at LOGO for airing the DRAG-U promo a week before this finale. I concluded a week ago that because Bebe (Season 1 winner) and Tyra both did not appear in the promo (yet Juju and Raven are both in the promo) that Tyra won. Boy was I right…..that gave it away and ruined it for me…..
jerseyguy
Ugh! I haven’t watched Logo in 2 years. I gave up. I had such hopes for the channel but it never amounted too much.
Clara Cabbage
Yes, it is quite obvious to everyone that Tyra does NOT have what it takes to be a Drag Superstar. I stopped watching when Pandora was voted off. RuPaul and the other judges are so not qualified to judge Drag performers. They failed big time again. Straight men would not watch a sports team that trades off its best athletes and I will not watch a drag show that casts off its best performers and praises less appealing drag performers. Pandora, Jessica and others were so much better than the final contestants. Does RuPaul purposely make a lackluster queen win, so she will not have any competition to her title as Drag Superstar, or is RuPaul really that lame and incompetent when it comes to judging performers? Tyra and even Bebe do not have what it takes to be a Drag Superstar and will never give RuPaul any competition. Now that we know the score, we can change the channel when we see RuPaul’s drag race on TV.
angrywiener
Expected results.
Preface: I Like Rupaul, I like the show, but …
Ru has been doing the same patter since Wigstock in the 80’s (anyone remember her wonder woman “Steve’s in trouble” schtick — can I have an amen?)
Fix the show. Let the fans call in. America’s next Drag Superstar would end up being someone with talent, personality and presence.
Not a Caustic Unintelligent No-talent Tranny
just sayin’.

For someone who was flat broke and living on her drag momma’s couch, Tyra sure seemed to have some expensive drag gear. She’s great and everything but *I* don’t feel she should have won.
sExplosion
it should be Pandora for god’s sake. I am in luv with pandora since I saw her improvement in the rocker-chick week and she just blew me away ever since.
Pandora, lotsa love for u!

I’m a little irked by all the ragging about Trya. Tyra was gorgeous, demonstrated tremendous growth, and she deserved to win. I’m sure the other final four will also get tremendous exposure due to their appearance on Drag Race. As for the assessment that Rupaul is baiased, HELLO it’s his show! He can pick who he feels best epitomizes a drag superstar. I’m sorry, Pandora Box did not. She was a camp superstar which is not what Ru was looking for. It’s just like the people that whine year after year about who won American Idol but have tuned in for close to 10 years. Please, get a life and a clue!
Dionte
She brought it, I knew she was gonna win after that lip sync for her life, she sealed it.

Sorry, but a large part of Drag is entertainment. The problem is, Ru comes from the more “Female impersonator” side of Drag. Where they think that standing there, looking fabulous and mouthing the words to a Celine Dion song is the way to go. What RuPaul doesn’t want to deal with is the massive number of Drag out there that is comedy, personality, showmanship etc… The fact that Santino is ragging on the girls because their dresses looked like they made them shows that the judges don’t know drag. At any show, the queen that gets out there, thinks she looks glam and doesn’t do anything ALWAYS gets lower tips than the one that gets out there, is funny and engages the crowd.
Don
Tyra should not have won but once I saw the final three I knew that she would, just look who one the first season. I loved pandora as well but from the three I think Raven should have taken it home and tyra the bottom where she belongs.
Mr. Andrew
One factor that I think stops a lot of talented drag entertainers from trying out for the show is the requirement that they appear as boys throughout.
I do agree with most everyone that Pandora was the true Drag Entertainer, and that RuPaul always seems to want to pick winners that are the most like her.
Having said that, just being on the show should be a plus for all that participated.
scott ny'er
@Mr. Andrew: Why, what’s the big deal about appearing as boys? I’m curious.
Lanjier
I like drag to be much more campy and fun. Charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent are the four criteria. I think humor should be a criteria. So I would have picked Pandora because I like drag that has a lot of humor.
But Ru Paul, Santino are Merle is much more about drag being the illusion of a real woman, a pretty woman, with well-designed fashionable clothes. And given the definition of good drag on this show, I thought it was very fair that Tyra won. Her dresses always got high marks, and the others were often criticized as being off. She worked very hard. I though when she came down the runway that she had the strongest charisma and the most femininity. But one big mistake in the show was voting off Morgan and Pandora, who definitively should have been in the top three. There is a doll face bias. Style and humor should get more points than they did in the show.
Mr. Andrew
It is my second-hand knowledge (via my husband, a former drag pageant promoter)that some of the best drag entertainers live as women, and don’t like to show their “boy” side.
BobP
I never liked Tyra. Something about her didn’t ring true. And I hate all that “my son” shit. And, excuse me, but she “forgot” to breathe? Please. She really needs to work on that clown make-up, too.
Drag queens are supposed to be funny, right? Hmmm.
Tee-sha
I really would of love for juju b to win… she was so beautiful and sexy. Didn’t care for raven but she did have style.
shae
Thats bs Juju should have won, Raven is a frighted bitch with no personality and Tyra is a dumb bitch with a unchanging voice…..but i did see how home girl spent that money, she got her grill fixed lmao!
SM
I’d like to know whether Tyra winning shows a big gulf between UK and US drag. In the UK (and most places where i’ve seen drag in Europe) the majority of the time a queen is on stage is when she’s talking and interacting with the audience, and to be honest we don’t really like our drag queens looking overly ‘beautiful’ or being particularly ‘realistic’ female impersonators. From what i’ve seen in asia its much more about femininity and lipsyncing, and i’m wondering whether it’s like that in the US (although RuPaul doesn’t fit into this category, because he’s SO funny)? Because i’m pretty sure the only two from this series who would have even made it onto the show in the UK are Juju and Pandora, (maybe some of the others, i’ve kinda forgotten some of the earlier contestants…)
Just interested, would like to know your thoughts…x
princess.johnsonXIV
pandora boxx was great but miss congeniality is her perfect title.
pandora is more of a “lahoma” than a “rupaul”, right?
we are talking about potential drag superstar, which per rupaul’s mandate encompasses singer, lipsyncer, supermodel, self-stylist, spokesmodel and disco critter combined.
none of these contestants had all the qualities.
no one in reality can meet the standard set by rupaul, but bebe won by writing and performing the best rap, by repping cameroon so heroically as well as
featuring Ross as tracy chambers in “mahogany”.
tyra won by strategy, sheer beauty, showmanship, costumes and an apparently demoralizing undercurrent of Hidden Depth.
tyra never even had to lipsynch until the end
and then she beat raven because she was more graceful, more winning and more animated.
don’t argue with me; some of you b*tches cannot handle the truth!

Lets be real – out of drag Pandora was fugly as hell! In drag only slightly better looking. I still liked Pandora but she was boring with absolutely no fashion sense. Even the queens from last year (and most of them could sew) would run circles around her – give me a break! Dang!

Season one of Rupaul’s Drag Race was fantastic. Season could have been, but left a lot to be desired when it comes to the ladies and the decisions. Tyra should have been gone quicker than a two piece and a biscuit. She was trash with a horrible monotone and if I heard the word Beyonce one more time I would gag. She was rude, stupid and fake. Her only shining moment was as the baby. Raven had a few moments of awesome, but in general showed off a man body in several bad outfits and seemed to think that if she was c#nty enough to the other girls that she could win by demoralizing them. Hey you sucked, hey you you thought she sucked too right. hey you over there you thought she was sucky too didnt you, yeah we all think you suck so how does that make you feel, you have to admit that you suck right, cuz you do suck, girls doesn’t she suck. OMG shut your hole already man-body. Tati was wonderful. She was super pretty and really good at what she does. I do think she laid it on thick with the whole “Oh i never do this or that” and then rocking it out nonetheless. Seemed a little affected, but she was good. She for sure should have been in the top three if not the winner. Her Brittany was spot on and hysterical. “I got lost!” So good. Pandora was clearly meant for the top three at the very least because she IS a superstar. I would pay to see her. Juju was a bit too wishy-washy both in performance and personality, but pretty and fun as well. Those would have been my top three: Juju, Tati and Pandora.

My partner Rob of 24 yr’s & myself are trying to contact Ms. RuPaul directly. We understand that she is busy, a celebrity & has little time to just talk to or email someone but in addition to being fans we are in need of help. Not financial but advocacy, gay rights & human rights related. We have reached out to almost every community out reach or group that we know of & since we have had no luck, since our lives have been threatened in this small hick town we live in & we are literally being driven out of town based solely on sexual orientation we are interested in asking Ms. RuPaul if we could perhaps pay her to assist us in publicity & gaying up of our small business (we own a gas station & store w/restaurant) & we bought it about a year ago but once local town hillbillies found out we were not friends but a couple, since we were kids basically (I am 50 y/o & Rob is 44 y/o now), they have been doing everything but physically driving us away. Rocks are thrown at us, letters & emails sent, computer has been hacked w/fake FB & Twitter Accounts and it goes on & on, we are exhausted from the fight, plus one of us is ill (me, Greg), & have 2 surgeries to be done this year & we have lost basically everything we have worked as a couple for quarter century to build up. We can survive without the monetary things we lost but we refuse to leave losing our dignity & self respect. We want to show them what the gay community can do when we rally & stand together & if there is any interest what so ever, please call me or email us any time. We won’t bother you or ask a million times, we are sane & not psycho-fans looking to meet you, we are fans indeed but our issues are real & serious & we are praying for a miracle & wonder if you would please be our miracle. Many more details should we be able to email you the whole situation but we didn’t want to write it all out if there is a chance it may not get to you. This is just a way to try & hope you may read & reply to us. We love you, Logo & the Show. Fondly, Greg & Rob (716)-574-8066 Buffalo number tho we are out in Rural UpState, NY. email: [email protected]
