"The scene is not shocking in the sense that any body parts are actually revealed–both actors are nude, but the way the scene is shot, no pickle is on display. The surprising part is that the 'bottom' is this muscle, bearish type, who is on all fours, getting a really hard pounding by Carey. It was mostly the tone and my perception of Carey as an actor, just because I never looked at Carey in a sexual manner and he was so dedicated to giving it to the muscle-bear and the sexual tone was authentic, it caught me off guard. I eventually got over it and I think Carey is convincingly fantastic in the film. But I think most folks are used to seeing Ewan McGregor naked and engaging in man-on-man sex, but Carey, not so much. Could Jim Carrey look more like a stereotype than he does in that photo? One frame of film is bad enough, I can't even imagine 90+ minutes of it. Someone should have told him real gay wins Oscars, caricature goes straight to video.

I agree with Alan.. And.. as long as we are on sterotypes…. that is not how a top dresses. Certainly not a power top.

Jim Carrey is nuts — as is his girlfriend Jenny "I cured my indigo child's autism" McCarthy.

He did a gay role – so he would get some press. any press.

@Alan Down in Florida: I know plenty of men that dress like that. Some of them gay.

@Mark M: Please. I know trannies that are tops. First you complain about stereotypes and then you use one to dismiss how he is dressing? "Tops" or "Power tops" are stereotypes too.

@Bertie: Of course he's doing it for press. He's a celebrety, that's what they do.

Personally I don't care if it goes straight to video. I'll just rent it then. It'll be distributed though. Just it will be shown in Art Houses. I foresee record boxoffice sales in Art House cinemas in the coming month.

As a reason for lack of theatrical distribution, one "disquieting" sex scene is lame. Most producers would just reshoot the scene and make the original available for a DVD release.

The film's producers have to want a theatrical release for the possibility that it would generate more money than a straight to DVD release. Hopefully, the film's stars took reduced salaries otherwise, the producers are going to lose boatloads of money.
