A Low Hanging Controversy

Dear South Carolina: If your biggest local problem are drivers hanging "truck nutz" from the back of their cars, you're in pretty good shape compared to the rest of America.

God I'm so glad I don't live in someplace like this

wonkette.com is obsessed with these. LOL. I read on there previously that they ticket people in Florida if they have them on their trucks. I'm personally more offended by people driving trucks than the nutz.

Well, these Truck Nutz are hardly classy, but I think people are overreacting to this. Of course, one could also take the view that trucks are already a kind of phallic symbol, and the Truck Nutz are simply unnecessary embellishment.

Just one more example of the stoooopid, Christian-based teaching of and the supporting of the idea that certain parts of their God-created bodies are "offensive" and immoral.

Isn't that kind of like telling the creator, "You f*cked-up badly, Mister?"?

Shame on God for failing to provide us with a built-in fig leaf.

An obvious oversight on his behalf, no doubt.

I've never seen them in person, but there aren't that many red-necks around here. I also agree that it is a bit over reactionary, but hey, that's what they do in the country with EVERYTHING.

Yet another case of stupid parents overreacting. Exactly how would all these little kids be affected, anyway? How would little girls and boys even know what they are supposed to be?

@Sebbe:

I love Wonkette…almost as much as the Onion. LOL

With so much to get outraged over….plastic representations of "nutz' push them over the top.

The Insanity of Christianity.

Coming to a theater near you.

@Charles – yes and the site and their content is 10 times better since Layne bought and took over the site. Jeanne Moos (CNN)
is always giving them props.

@Rick – I am an atheist and not a supporter of christians or their beliefs, but I think this is more a dumb-ass issue than christian. BTW – I gave your site a glance, looks pretty good I am gonna check it out later.

Wow! Seriously, this is America?! Yikes! S-C-A-R-Y. Giving a ticket to someone on how to decorating one's vehicle. This is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. I hope SMART people of Augusta take it all the way to the supreme court.

PURITANISM is still alive and well.

@tony – while I think the whole thing is kinda dumb, like I said apparently you can already get a ticket in florida, 60 bucks or something. I'm not quite sure that there is a constitutionally endowed right to hang plastic male genetalia from your pick up truck either.

@Sebbe: Dude, it’s called freedom of speech. Heard of it?

@rick roberts – while I agree with you that they should be legal, no matter how distasteful they are, I believe the article I read in journal of the ABA (American bar association) and the legal reasoning of the legislature in Florida was that it was a safety issue as it is a distraction. The assumption by most of the public that America is a "free" country is false to say the least. I actually can see both sides of a first amendment challenge to this case personally. Also, keep in mind the 1st amendment doesn't allow for "unrestricted" freedom of speech or expression. Many things are restricted, monitored, etc.

Oh, good Lord. As I'm sitting here watching this, my TV is on with a report of 17,000 more troops being deployed today. I can't help but think …. L.O.B.P. (Loss of Big Picture) moms … You should be way more upset about your boys oversees getting their nuts blown off, rather than silly rubber ones running around in your neighborhood!

There's a truck that parks in the same lot I do that has a set of these. I've been tempted to slap a bumpersticker right above them that says, "Please spay or neuter your pet."

@Rick Roberts: I'm a christian and I am nothing like this woman. It pretty pathetic to judge a huge population based the hicks and assclowns of their number.
