I actually liked Rosie for a long time, though it wasn't easy at times. She's done alot...perhaps not all she could, but as far as I can figure out she's always been her own person whatever media/culture storm she's created or weathered. I can't just pile hate on her. The media was really brutal w/her blog material (queerty you're in there too) even if it might have been deserved at times. She's just doing the best she can in this life and I have to admire that.

A bit harsh. Yes, Rosie's done little in the past 2-3 years to be likeable, but she actually has had a brilliant, diverse career - even when she was making movies (A League of their Own being the best - and her role in that wasn't small). There was Sleepless in Seattle, which is probably the movie she's still best known for. Harriet the Spy. And who could forget "Another Stake Out?" LOL (Not a terribly good movie, but it was relatively funny for kids, which honestly seems to be the crowd she was most successful with in her movies - and there's nothing wrong with that).

So, no, she hasn't done very many *good* movies, but don't pretend as though she wasn't getting big roles or having successful movies. And, there were the rare good ones (Sleepless, A League). Plus, her daytime show was *very* successful for many years, something that may have set the stage for Ellen years later - and when Rosie joined the View, the ratings at least became relevant again... she was just, indeed, too 'in your face' to last on that show any longer than she did.

I highly, highly doubt that this is the last we'll see of Rosie. She's one of those people who always manage to keep themselves relevant and rise out of the ashes after they've had a few bad years. I wouldn't be surprised to see her get a TV show in the future, maybe not even a comedy, or a cable news show at night (MSNBC was close to signing her - maybe CNBC will?). Or, maybe she's feeling 'done' and wants to spend more time with her kids. That does seem to be a priority in her life, which is more than many celebs can claim. She's loaded, has had a strong career and wouldn't be the first to call it quits before it gets called for her.

I Love Rosie. She was accessable, funny and yes in your face at times. But she also stood up for she believed in whether it was popular opinion or not. I applaud her courage and her heart. She will be missed

re: No. 6 · Sapphocrat
there was no deafening silence during prop 8. Rosie sent out 3 different newsletters to everyone on her blog/fan list encouraging people to get out and vote and to support prop 8. She also sent the same newletters to people who had requested info on her cruises. I know because I'm on both lists. She also had a large support prop 8 button on herr sidebar with a link to more information.

But because she didn't support Prop 8 in the way that YOU deem proper she's on your sh*tllist? Wow, just wow.

@L.P.: Hmmmm, nope. I might respect her if she got bad press just for being in-your-face. What put her at the top of my shit list was her eventual response after months of deafening silence during the Prop 8 battle, to the effect of: why should she care -- she doesn't live in California (i.e., fuck you, I got mine), and anyway, her San Francisco marriage was merely "an act of civil disobedience." Pardon the paraphrasing, but I don't have Japhy's gift for mimicking cracked haiku. G-A-Y captured the her ugly exchanges with fans (one of whom she calls a moron) in October:

I rather like Rosie; maybe not her poetry, but I liker her as a person. I think that she gets a lot of bad representation because of how "in your face" she can be. It's her personality. Meh.

So, she can't blog anymore because she it's not exclusive enough (in her sad, narrow view)? How typical.

Incidentally, this is probably the funniest post with Japhy's name attached. Pure hilarity!!

Rosie is/was one of the most easily available celebs online. Why all the hate? Check out someone like Patti LuPone if you want to dish. God love Ro and she puts her $$$ where her mouth is (OK, forget the mouth part).
