I wouldn’t worry about the Conservative party gaining power in the next general elaction. None of the main political party over here in Britain objected to the introduction of Civil Partnerships; and they are bending over backwards to change their image and appeal to the pink vote. At leat one of their shadow cabinet is gay, and David Cameran (the leader of the Con’s) will be attending his Civil Partnership. As for the Labour party. They’ve done great things over the last ten years – but they’ve lost their way, are deeply unpopular. This country is ready for a change – but that doesn’t mean that we should not recognize their past achievements and make sure that they are built upon.

I have to say, I am so proud of my adopted home! Who cares if it is absurdly expensive, the weather is a bit iffy, and the trains run late. I love Britain! Way to set an example. My British boyfriend is now wetting himself with laughter, given the amount I normally winge about the UK! :) Priorities afterall!

Would not worry about the tories too much, the entire front bench is practically gay. I think they’ve evolved…well, most of them have.

Fantastic!! Now we need to see the same heavy support of gay rights in OTHER parts of the World where Great Britain has significant influence…Like, say, UGANDA, JAMAICA, etc

I really admire the UK for doing this. In fairness, Britain is miles and miles ahead of most countries in terms of gay rights. I think they are even the first country to do this?

This is why it’s so worrying that the Conservatives are gaining ground in the UK. If Labour is ousted, gay rights will no longer be a priority.
