TVLine.com is reporting that out pop singer Adam Lambert is in discussions to be a judge on the upcoming 12th season of American Idol.
Apparently Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson haven’t signed their contracts for the new season so producers are considering for a fresh face to sit in the judge’s seat—and who better than someone who’s been through the process himself.
TVLine’s Michael Slezak lists numerous reasons why Lambert would be a boon to the long-running series, including his actual music chops (sorry, J-Lo), provocative nature and sense of humor. Plus, as Slezak points out, having a homo on board could help the show:
“Okay, okay, so Lambert’s sexual orientation isn’t actually a job qualification, but perhaps his weekly presence on the show would finally squelch the sense of gay panic — the occasional homophobic banter among the judges and host Ryan Seacrest; the bizarre resistance to ever mentioning personal lives of contestants who are clearly gay or lesbian — that’s pervaded Idol for 11 seasons running.”
Seacrest practically shit a brick every time Cowell called his manliness into question. We can only imagine how he’d react to banter from an actual gay guy. That’s some good television right there!
How about we take this to the next level?

Meh. Have Perez Hilton do it instead. She’s the bigger bitch.

@alanocu: He fits the bill…a non singer judging singers…that’s been the Idol requirement since day one.
Paula Abdul to Jennifer Lopez…hmmm next can’t sing female singer to judge idol should be…
Madonna?
Janet Jackson?
A Spice Girl?
Macmantoo
Well that might do it for American Idol. The One Million moms would call a boycott for sure.
Enchanted
Can they just put that show out to pasture already! Enough, only true stars it created were Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood!
Daez
@Enchanted: Carrie Underwood really just used it for her break. I would hardly say it created her since the show itself leans towards the pop music market and she went country.
Adam would make a great judge on this show. He could quite easily fit the bill of the next non-talented female singer judging others on their talent (like someone else mentioned). Or they could get Lady Gaga.
Colin
@Daez: Except that HE is very talented and HE is a great singer. For someone who complains about bigotry against gays, you sure are quick to slur someone else.
Huh?
I agree with Enchanted – 10 years was enough of this show. Time to hang the show up. There’s too many d&mn talent shows on television and it’s so irritating. Enough already!
prettygirls
@Colin: LOL. Tweakers.
INFRASTRUCTURE
You could definitely see your expertise in the
work you write. The sector hopes for more passionate writers such as you who are not afraid to
say how they believe. All the time go after your heart.

ADAM WOULD BE A GREAT JUDGE. HE’S VERY ARTICULATE. SOMETHING AI HAS BEEN MISSING WITH BOTH RANDY AND STEVEN. IMAGINE A JUDGE WHO COULD ACTUALLY GIVE A CRITIQUE THAT MAKES SENSE AND COULD HELP THE CONTESTANTS. I THINK ANOTHER GOOD JUDGE WOULD BE JIMMY IOVINE.
