Adam Lambert In Talks To Be New Judge On American Idol

TVLine.com is reporting that out pop singer Adam Lambert is in discussions to be a judge on the upcoming 12th season of American Idol.

Apparently Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson haven’t signed their contracts for the new season so producers are considering for a fresh face to sit in the judge’s seat—and who better than someone who’s been through the process himself.

TVLine’s Michael Slezak lists numerous reasons why Lambert would be a boon to the long-running series, including his actual music chops (sorry, J-Lo), provocative nature and sense of humor. Plus, as Slezak points out, having a homo on board could help the show:

“Okay, okay, so Lambert’s sexual orientation isn’t actually a job qualification, but perhaps his weekly presence on the show would finally squelch the sense of gay panic — the occasional homophobic banter among the judges and host Ryan Seacrest; the bizarre resistance to ever mentioning personal lives of contestants who are clearly gay or lesbian — that’s pervaded Idol for 11 seasons running.”

Seacrest practically shit a brick every time Cowell called his manliness into question. We can only imagine how he’d react to banter from an actual gay guy. That’s some good television right there!
