It’s just so silly and it doesn’t make any sense to me that you wouldn’t be able to marry whomever you want to marry. It’s not our business. I don’t know why we’re obsessed with making everything in this country our business, all the time. It seems we’re a little behind on that, and we just need to make it legal and stop caring so much. It doesn’t matter. And it shouldn’t matter…Anyone who doesn’t agree with it is essentially putting themselves above other people. That’s what they’re doing. And that’s not OK with me…I don’t think that having a gay brother has affected the way I feel about it, because I would feel the same way regardless. I happen to have a gay brother, but that doesn’t mean I’m more of an advocate for equal human rights. That shouldn’t change anything about the way that I feel.”
— Burgeoning gay icon/Maroon 5 frontman/Christina Aguilera archnemesis Adam Levine on why his first act as president would be to legalize gay marriage.
Avenger
Adam Levine epitomizes the term “liberal douche.”
Miguel A. Mendoza
All I know is that Maroon 5 is a band of poseurs who make terrible music; they came along and made Nickelback seem credible by comparison. And Adam Levine is thoroughly obnoxious on and off the stage.
Far as that whole bit about how his having a gay brother doesn’t make him support gay marriage and blah-blah-blah goes…meh…who cares? Just like he says that it’s no one’s business if gay couples marry, it’s also no one’s business if someone else is against the idea. What’s it to you if your conservative cousin or next door neighbor opposes same sex couples getting married? How does THAT affect you? Everyone should mind their own business, right?
The problem with some in the gay community is that they want the whole world to embrace them, just because…and treats anyone who is even slightly uncomfortable with them as though they are Republican congressmen with anti-gay voting records. No one is owed acceptance by anyone else. So long as I’m not harassing you, I don’t have to like or accept you…or become another advocate for you having marriage rights.

@Miguel A. Mendoza: “What’s it to you if your conservative cousin or next door neighbor opposes same sex couples getting married? How does THAT affect you? Everyone should mind their own business, right?”
Wait, seriously? How does it effect me if my next door neighbor opposes same sex marriage? Ummm… They get to VOTE on it! It is not like they get asked quietly, and nothing is ever done about their private opinion. Their opinion gets turned into law, to deny me my rights.
You win idiot of the day. Congratulations.

@Miguel A. Mendoza
As tiresome as it is to have to educate ignorant folks such as yourself,
I’ll do it once again. As an out and proud gay man, I don’t need your acceptance
or for you or ANY person to accept my marriage. What concerns me is the
$1500 I pay in taxes per year to keep my husband of 16 years on my health insurance
plan when some twerp like you can put any woman you marry on your health plan and pay
nothing. What concerns me is that when I die, anything I leave my husband will be
taxed when any woman you marry for even a day will inherit your estate free of taxes.
Marriage equality is not a difference of opinion. This is discrimination. I pay more
than you because I’m gay and married to a man. So keep your opinions and your bigotry.
I’m going to continue to fight to keep MY money in my MY family.

@ChiChi Man:
Circle gets the square! Well said!!!!

He makes a good point.
He’s up for equal right based on principle.
Good for him.
Dagrlzrd
That is so wonderful! My Brother and all of his jock friends,though that it was so funny to beat up the little FAG!!! No one in my family tried to protect me. My BIG BROTHER who should have tried to defend me in some way only made it worse.Even after the night when I was 13 and he took out his hard penis and said.”If you are really Gay,suck on this.”So I did, and he came,and still treated me like shit.Adam is so amazing and you young people are so lucky! Count your blessings and thank the Goddess that your are not old like me.
Red Meat
@Dagrlzrd: Dafuq. Do we really need to know you sucked your brother’s penis to make a point about a pop star?

“Burgeoning gay icon”……NO

He’s fabulous, and a great singer. I’ve heard that Payphone song a million times and I’m still not sick of it.

@Dagrlzrd: Clutch Pearls. Gawd Nall… Thanks, I just puked on my keyboard.
@Red Meat: TMI…Indeed.

@Miguel A. Mendoza: My neighbor thinks all Hispanics should be forced to show id so we can deport the illegals and weshould deny education and medical care and citizenship to children of illegal Hispanics.

@Miguel A. Mendoza: I have an itch in my anus…Can you itch it please?

@Avenger: Totally true. I hate when people don’t acknowledge that their background affects their personal views. If he grew up in a homophobic household he’d probably hate gays too. It shouldn’t change the way he feels, but it does.
jj
@Avenger: And you epitomize the term “conservative troll.”
jj
@Miguel A. Mendoza: Why on earth do you trolls come to read gay blogs? You’ve written one the most idiotic responses I’ve read on here. I don’t care if someone doesn’t “like” the idea of two tax paying consenting adults of the same gender obtaining a civil marriage, but I don’t want to live in a country where civil rights are determined by what some bigot “likes.” Civil marriage is a civil right. Same gender couples simply want the same legal rights that opposite gender couples enjoy. The way you think, you clearly would have been on the wrong side of the slavery issue.
Jon
@Miguel A. Mendoza: Are you insane or an ignoramus? If people minded their own business and didn’t make apartheid laws treating gays as second class citizens (doesn’t resonate at all senor?) then it would be ok. IF!
mike
@Miguel A Mendoza Either you are a straight republicon or a logcabin republicon with some serious self-loathing issues. I don’t care WHO “likes” me. I want wants mine: to live and breath free in the land of my birth as my Constitution guarantees me. Honey, if you ain’t queer don’t be here. So, Miguelito el republicancito why don’t you mosey on over to the FRC website and hang out there for awhile.
Superman
@Dagrlzrd: Okay, that one part of your story was pretty damn sexy. Maybe because I’m imagining Adam and his brother doing it. Or maybe because I need to bleach Milo & Elijah Peters out of my brain.
Dumdum
@Miguel A. Mendoza: What is is to you if your neighbor hates you and wants to send you and your family to Mexico or South America? Or you are of African descent? Racial bigotry is no different from anti gay sentiment. Only the Gay thing crosses ALL racial borders. I have to admit though I REALLY enjoyed being called names and getting beaten up two or three times a week cause I am kinky and I like the ruff stuff!!! So much in fact that I dropped out of school at 15 and ran away to live on the streets and sell my young body to creepy old trolls to survive. Hate and intolerance drove me out of home, out of school and nearly out of my mind.So EXCUSE MEEE if I hope and pray and work for acceptance for myself and ALL of my Gay brothers and sisters,Transgendered and Bi-sexual Family.Bye the way are you busy this week I need my lawn mowed.
Niall
He still has one of the most annoying, whiny male singing voices in history, but good to see him in support of gay marriage.
