Afternoon Aural: Midlake

Many people describe Midlake as “rock,” but there’s far more nuance in the Texas-based band’s sound. For example, “Young Bride” has a bit of funk to it, despite the sad undertones. Meanwhile, “Roscoe” comes infused with a Sixties-era nostalgia and invoke Fleetwood Mac. Tom Brokaw would approve.

Both tracks come from the quintet’s most recent full-length: The Trials of Van Occupanther.

The entire Midlake album ” The Trials of Van Occupanther’ is great start to finish. Have you checked out some of the remixes of “Roscoe.” Can’t wait for their next record.

Great choice in putting up this post.
