Afternoon Aural: Miguel Brown

We’d never heard of Miguel Brown‘s “So Many Men, So Little Time” until today. Does that make us terrible gays? Probably, but you know what they say about later, never and all that.

A cursory Internet search tells us next to nothing about our fabulous new find. Here’s what we know – this song came out in 1983, remix arrived in 1989, hit number 11 in The gay-loving Netherlands and, someone named Miguel Brown existed, recorded this song and then faded from view. Yep, that’s about it. Anyone who knows about this Brown character should write in and give us the details.

In the meantime, let’s all take a second to enjoy this lengthy video for “So Many Men, So Little Time” by the mysterious Miguel Brown.

I think the bigger question about this truly awful song /video is who was the person that liked it enough to have a copy of this video on their computer and decide one day, “Hey, I know what I can do, put up on YouTube for the rest of the world to enjoy!”

Yeah, fantastic idea. About as a good an idea as not wearing a condom at a gifting party…

It’s an awful song alright. Downright crappy. But it’s still pretty staggering you’ve never heard of it, seeming as it’s one of the biggest gay anthems of the past 30 years. I wish I wasn’t finding this site less and less relevant. I don’t know who your market is, but it’s not anyone over 30 or beyond NYC.

Miquel Brown is the mother of Sinatta. A girl who had a few hits in the UK in the 80′s produced by Stock Aitken Waterman.
I believe the first mother daughter to both have hits.

Just as a bit of trivia, this song was covered by a group called Me & My and was featured in the first few installments of the Dance Dance Revolution video game.

It’s hard enough to get up the courage to dance on that thing in front of a dozen onlookers. Imagine doing that while dancing to this song. *shock*
