Afternoon Aural: Portishead

Whatever happened to Portishead? 1994's Dummy seemed to set them up for world domination - or, at least, a more notable career.

They've only released albums since then - 1999's Portishead and the Roseland Ballroom performance - which is really a shame, because we're feeling a bit blue today, so we could really use some fresh offerings.

Guess we'll just have to settle for that old favorite, "Wandering Star". If any of you see lead singer Beth Gibbons on the street, give her a message: we're waiting…

Portishead is so underloved. I am crazy about them.

I seem to think they've announced they're releasing an album this year. They've got a semi-active myspace page, and Beth Gibbons did release an album on her own a couple of years ago worth listening to.
