Sign Your Name and Wishing Well were his best songs. He had an amazing talent, but his ego got too huge and it ended up crushing him.

Terrific debut album. Every cut is recommended. Check the b-sides to the singles from it as well. He was never able to fully follow it up, but check cut ‘Delicate’ with Des’ree from early ’90s.

I do. Rumour had it at that time that he had quite an ego.

his biggest? Uh, isn’t it his ONLY?

Also, I was thinking about the afternoon aural today and thought Kiss Me Deadly by Lita Ford would be a nice choice. The vid was positively 80s!

What do you mean ‘who remembers?’ D’Arby was soaring in ’88. Personally, my favorite off of “Hardline” was his wicked James Brown tribute “Dance Little Sister”. Put that one in some day. “Sign Your Name” lingers too.

YES! Excellent choice!!

Mike in MO- Kiss Me Deadly was already recently selected. Also, he had other hits, like “She Kissed Me” and “Dance Little Sister” and “Sign Your Name”.

Is there a vid for his cover of “Who’s Loving You”? His rendition was awesome.

I think “Delicate” (with Desirée) was his best song.

Yep. Every track on this one A+.

I think he stole most of those moves toward the end of the video from Michael Jackson, though.

Meow.

It is worth noting that Terence Trent D’Arby did come out as “Bisexual” which is as good as Gay in the conservative American music industry. They at least owe him a “Best Of” CD collection.

TTD’A has a ‘Best of” collection. In the US it’s a 1 disc compilation, while outside the US it’s a 2 disc set. The import has one of the best covers of Sam Cooke’s ‘Wonderful World’ I’ve ever heard.

Terence Trent decided long ago not deal with the established musician handlers and he was methodically ostracized. He’s the best vocalist of his generation, period. He remains in the face of the one’s who would wish to manage or handle him. They lick their chops from way outside the cage. He was not egocentric, he could and would not want to shackles imposed on today’s artists. And a true artist MUST and Remain free to be creative!!!!!!! have we forgotten that music is a Creative ART???!!!
