Afternoon Aural: The Cardigans

This may come as a shocker, but The Cardigans remain one of our favorite bands. Best known for their chart topper, "Love Fool", they're more than twee love songs and soundtrack ready tunes. They've record six albums, all of them good (okay, okay, Gran Turismo's not that good, but it's still entertaining).

We have to admit, though, that 1996's First Band on The Moon (the same album featuring "Love Fool") remains our favorite. Thus, here's the video for "Your New Cuckoo": the album's first track.

I gotta agree with magoo. Gran Turismo has some awesome songs. It's not my favorite, though. That'd be the b-sides compilation The Other Side of the Moon which is fuckin' amazing. Seriously. It's worth every extra penny you have to pay to get a copy.

Gran Turismo is completely different from everything that came before. For those of us who loved their oh-so-sugary-sweet tracks (Carnival is my personal favourite) their move toward a sterile techno-ish sound was a pretty big letdown.

For those who like the faux-sugary-sweet stuff Of Montreal is along the same vein, with a Sloan-ish tint.
