Afternoon Aural: Vampire Weekend

New York-based Vampire Weekend describe themselves as New Wave Punk Classical and “Upper West Side Soweto,” a reference to Johannesburg’s most famous township. We’re not sure we agree with the former, but we’ll give them the latter. So, without further ado, here’s Vampire Weekend with “Mansard Roof” and “APunk”

Pop-Ska I’d say. Cute boys though, should be opening for Hanna Montana, wait, that sounded bitchier than I meant to. They have a long way to go to fuse punk and ska as the Clash did.
