And How Did Donal Óg Cusack’s Family React to His Coming Out?

From the U.S., it’s a little hard to gauge the prominence of Donal Óg Cusack, the Irish hurler who is loved by his countrymen. That makes it hard to gauge the significance of Cusack’s coming out. But let’s pretend for a moment that Derek Jeter is gay. And he just said as much.

Sure, Cusack has a book to promote — and we’re naturally skeptical of anyone with a marketing plan better than our own. But Cusack isn’t burying his sexuality in Chapter 33. He’s hitting the television rounds to discuss what’s obviously a very charged subject that could, theoretically, risk his national hero status.

But it hasn’t so far.
