The Grand Marshals of 2012 NYC Gay Pride will be “True Colors” singer Cyndi Lauper, Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo, and lesbian couple Phyllis Siege and Connie Kopelov, who were the first couple to tie the knot in New York state.
Cyndi, who grew up in Queens and has a lesbian sister, released the following statement:
“Pride is one of my favorite times of the year, and as a lifelong New Yorker, I am excited to get to celebrate it in the greatest city in the world. I look forward to marching down 5th Avenue arm and arm with my brothers and sisters in the LGBT community as we let the world know that we will not rest until equality for all becomes a reality.”
Ally extraordinaire! We’re proud to have you on board, Cyn.

How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.

Hooray for Cyndi! Finally an actually ally to the LGBT community. She’s a much better choice than last year’s GM of Dan Savage who is racist, and who is highly biphobic and transphobic.

I’m actually surprised Cyndi hasn’t already been the grand marshall. What a great New Yorker and LGBT ally!

I adore Cyndi Lauper and always have – ever since Girls Just Want to Have Fun. She is a champion for our rights and will be a great GM for this year’s parade!
