Because everybody else on The Real World: New Orleans is so boring, we got more screen time of homophobe Ryan and homosexual Preston fighting — sort of physically! — on last night’s episode. And then the cops showed up! All of which comes on the heels of Ryan’s AIDS tweet. (Spoilers ahead)
Just in time for last night’s episode airing on MTV was this:
And so soon after Ryan apologized for his other nasty tweets. It’s as if his apology wasn’t authentic or something!
Last week we saw Preston wash Ryan’s toothbrush in the toilet, and Ryan wipe Preston’s cigarettes in his ass. Last night, Ryan learns about what happened to his toothbrush:
How about we take this to the next level?

And then comes the “let’s take this outside” moment.

Cue the overreaction — and call in the fuzz. Best part? Ryan is the one who ends up in the back of the police car.

Alas, the cops aren’t going to make it an issue. And Ryan succeeds in teaching Preston a lesson!

And now things are … cool between these two? Not exactly.

The “Real” World.
Whatever that boy is, he is particularly right now the post-processed product of MTV’s Producers. I feel like there must be some more certifiably authentic homophobia we can turn report on.
jeffree
You are so right! The rest of the cast is mind numbingly boooooring.
Both Ryan & Preston are wearing on my nerves though.
Time for me to find a new show…….
Dawson
I think Ryan is just messed in the head. I think he has internalized homophobia that runs very very deep. Its almost like he is jealous of Preston because Preston can be himself while Ryan feels the need to be guarded.

“Ryan freaks me out. He’s a weird kid, and weird kids freak me out.” Without realizing it, one of those girls became my new hero of tautology. I’m not sure if it was the simplicity of the statement or the lazy-eyed drawled out way she said it. Loved it.
nikko
RYAN is soooooo pretty!!
David
They should just fuck and get it over with.
Scott from CA
People still watch this show?
suzygoo
That little fight scene was so hot especially when Ryan sniffs Preston’s neck lustfully.
dukeofhurl
The previews for next week show Ryan catching a fish out of the aquarium and frying it in a pan. 🙁
Devon
He’s trolling at maximum capacity.

The absolute best line of the season so far: Ryan states ” I don’t know why people say that I am Gay. There is absolutley nothing Gay about me”……….
L.
Ryan uses a Blackberry, and not an iPhone?
Like, OMG! – he may *actually* be straight! Ruuuuun!
Hilarious
@L.: I use a blackberry. Insufficient evidence. 😛
Billy
Best defense against this crap is to not watch it, turn off the TV, and ignore them. MTV needs to lose viewers and ad dollars and shut this crap down. You don’t gain any knowledge about life or the world watching this stuff, its like Jerry Springer and similar shows, it caters to uneducated people that don’t have better things to do with their time. If you want to be amongst people that support diversity and education in television, watch something that’s grown up. This stuff on MTV is trash and watching it labels the viewer as such. If collectively we ignore these shows they will get canceled.
L.
@Hilarious: Oh so you’re one of those self-loathing queers then? 😛
hephaestion
Reality TV… Ryan the nutcase. And now Real Housewives of DC gives us a “housewife” whose husband thinks it’s funny to say it looks like he is “coming out for real” when he wears bright pink paisley pants. Jesus.

Yeah, two very grossly annoying people, behaving like that just shows a lack of self respect. There is something terrible wrong in both of their lives, and they probable need each other as friends more than enemy’s. If anyone handled my property in that manner they handled each others I would call the police, there are limits. Defiling someones property like that would get you shot to death in several regions across the U.S. I agree with the Jerry Springer thing, MTV isn’t teaching anything about diversity and acceptance; more like giving people reasons to harden their positions.
As far as Apple, they are a tech killer. They dumb down their technology to the hilt, than control it in a dictatorial manner as aggressive as Mugabe. Depending on how Windows 7 smartphone turns out, I would say Google and Microsoft are the best. Although I will admit to not having spent very much time with a Blackberry.
Sceth
I LOVED the hug after calling the police. For all their dual douchiness, Ryan is redeemed by letting go of it – and that tramp who doesn’t like weirdness is like a member of the mob who lynches gays and blacks because they’re unusual. People who fear the weird are trash.
L.
Darn. Queerty solved their tech problems but forgot to reboot the irony detector.
Patrick
This group is beyond douche bags.

@Billy: MTV has always and is a strong supporter of the Gays. This one season has a Ryan the drama queen in overdrive. The target for MTV is the tween, teen demographic. And virtually every single show has a Gay component. RR/RW has always had Gays. They are usually portrayed as no different than the other castmates except they are Gay. Usually are not stereotype drama queens. Shows like Next, Date My Mom, Room Raiders, Made, True Life etc show Gays as no different than the straight people
There are always going to be exceptions to the rule, however MTV has done more to portray Gays in a positive light than any other network. And considering their target market that is a huge plus………….
reason
I cede the point, my comments are based on what I have seen from this season. I won’t pretend to know very much about MTV granted I rarely ever watched anything on their channel, actually the first time I have watched anything on there in many years. In my teens, I was already becoming that boring guy that was fascinated with politics, and industry.
jason
MTV is not gay-friendly. It uses gay men to test the attitudes of others. It’s basically a manipulative approach to gay people. MTV is highly manipulative.
I remember when MTV ran a bisexual dating show about two years ago. It failed to include any gay or bisexual men in it. It was basically a promotion for vile skunk Tila Tequila. MTV was complicit in promoting the notion that lesbians or bisexual women existed to turn men on and not because they had a worth in their own right.
MTV is extremely homophobic.
MaybeTruth
How dumb have gays become? Some of you are posting here as if this TV show was real. It’s totally scripted folks!! It’s written by writers and the actors say the lines that go with their created characters. Don’t you get it?
PLAYS WELL WITH OTHERS
@jason: @reason: Based on simply watching this season on RR your comments make absolute sense. But as above MTV consistenly has portrayed Gays as just like any others castmembers. There have been dozens of Gays on RR and the vast majority are not drama queens like Preston and Not Gay Ryan……..The very first season of RR broke tons of barriers with the introduction of Pedro the first actual face most people saw of someone with AIDS. Pedro and AIDS were not exploited and every housemate defended Pedro against homophobic Pucks rants against him.
My roomate in college in was the son of a fundametalist minister from South Carolina. Kyle was subjected to regular rants about how the Gays were basicaly Satan’s soldiers on earth. After our introductions, I figured ours would be the shortest roomate term in history. I informed him I was Gay and kinda sorta figured he would have a bit of a problem. He replied “I never met a Gay dude before” (that he knew of :-p) but I seen lots of you guys on MTV” We roomed together for the full four years became good friends and still are in regular contact. That is why MTV is such a positive force for the Gays.
Pip
uhh Ryan really looks like he’s just trying to make out with Preston in that second video.
Mark
Ryan is a Closet Queen. He evidently has a problem with HIS OWN sexuality. Ryan, just come out of the closet and accept you’re Gay. Get Over It !
Carina
Ryan making me think of Real World Seattle Stephen who slapped Irene because she said they couldn’t get married because he was a homosexual. A few years later, he was arrested for being a gay hooker.
Juanita de Talmas
grossly annoying people, behaving like that just shows a lack of self respect. There is something terrible wrong [with them]
Uh, that is true of virtually all of the cast members, and is why they all apply to be on the show. Who in the right mind would want to have a camera crew follwing them around 24/7?
reason
@Juanita de Talmas: They want that camera because it is free publicity that they hope will launch them into something else. One of the reasons that it is startling to see some of them act so irresponsible and ignoble that you wouldn’t hire them to shine your shoes. So far one of the only ones that seem normal is Eric, no surprise that he works at the State Department and takes responsibility in life. The recognizability may help him climb the ladder there, the bosses that like his personality my give him the boost while someone else slogging away in the corner unfortunately just never gets noticed.
reason
@Juanita de Talmas: Most want the camera there because it is free publicity that they hope will launch them into something else. It’s one of the reasons that the local business like that radio station gives the two screw ups multiple chances when most would never have even gotten the opportunity; the businesses see it at free TV advertisements for themselves. One of the reasons that it is startling to see some of them act so irresponsible and ignoble that you wouldn’t hire them to shine your shoes. So far one of the only ones that seem normal is Eric, no surprise that he works at the State Department and takes responsibility in life. The recognizability may help him climb the ladder there, the bigger bosses that like his personality my give him the boost while someone else slogging away in the corner unfortunately may never get noticed. Like he said Hillary Clinton and himself are now the most famous people walking around that office. If I was him I would be hoping that nothing embarrassing is released in the following episodes.
