Anderson Cooper Hates His Inner Fan-Girl

andersoncooper26

“It’s like waiting for, like, Madonna tickets or something. It was … kind of pathetic.” —CNN news anchor and starry-eyed closet case Anderson Cooper describing our elected officials beating their way to President Obama for handshakes after he addressed Congress. … “What’s really pathetic is that Anderson Cooper apparently doesn’t share my enthusiasm for participating in such a historic and wonderful celebration of American democracy. I am sorry he is so jaded.” —New York’s 10-term Rep. Eliot Engel [NYDN]

i’m not going to label mr cooper, but here he certainly sounds like one of the f*ckin gays to me, that’s for sure.
bitchily comparing the president to *madonna*!
grow up, sister.
some of you entitled b*tches are too transparent – and you’re living in a fantasy world, as well!

Have to agree with anderson here…a congressman waiting 12.5 hours to get a good seat to be able to see Obama better is strange to me.

@ Steve…I completely agree, and there were several of them who staked out their seats too! That is embarassing, and disgraceful that they have the time to do that.

Fawners and flatterers get no love from me. But I’ll grant that this is far less pathetic than staking out Madonna tickets.

I have to agree with Cooper.

Obama is just a politician, and it is very ridiculous seeing all this gushing and idol worship going to a politician who can’t even pick members of his own cabinet, let alone fix the economy.

Cooper was complaining about all of the Democrat Congressmen who waited 8-13 hours sitting on their asses along the pathway that the President was to take to get to the podium. Remember, this is the same high spending, big deficit Congress that is claiming to try to fix America’s economy. But, if sitting on your ass for about 12 hours just to shake hands with the American messiah on TV is working hard, than this Congress will get a lot done. Just like the Democrat Congress under the Presidency of Jimmy Carter (1977-81); it was one of the most dysfunctional legislative bodies in American history. I can see that with this President. He is such a great orator, nothing more-nothing less.

I do give credit to Obama for trying, but you can never spend your way out a recession, let alone raise taxes for the so-called “rich”. But, he is a Democrat, and thats what they do. Tax and spend; spend and tax. Oh yes, they also love deficits and social programs galore!

JFK and LBJ would have been proud of him resurrecting the long-dead American left.

If, and it is a big IF, Obama fails, the Republicans will be back more-right-winged than ever to pick up the pieces. That is what I am afraid of.

BTW, why such an infatuation with Anderson Cooper? What if he is homosexual? That is his business, and his alone. We should leave him to his privacy.

I thought it was pretty awesome. The excitement and support in the room was uplifting. I’ve never seen anything like it since I’ve been old enough to watch these things. I felt like I was watching the British House of Commons. Especially when it came to the Repubs pouting about cutting tax breaks for corporations that send American jobs oversees and taxes on those of us that make bank.

You must be quite young. We have ‘spent’ our way of all recessions. And ‘why’ should not the wealthy people who have prospered from getting this country into this recession, help get us out, along with all the other working people?

there have been a couple of instances where the coop went on snark drive. I remember during the inauguration some woman told him she was glad to see him and he responded, a little angrily, that he bet she said that to all the reporters.

anyway, his growing up in the limelight has obviously produced this specific reaction to anything remotely perceived to admire fame.

I think though that in essense he is right. Obamania is probably , behind closed doors, not liked by even the prez or his wife.

actually, less mania is …

“…what the world needs now….”

Oh Sean, Obama didn’t resurrect the American Left. The failed policies of Bush, Cheney, McConnell, Boehner, Gingrich, and their cabal of robber-barons did.

Anderson doesn’t say stuff like that to look “cool”, he’s very cynical about politicians and especially people who do too much fawning, probably from personal experience. What he said about Engel was very typical of him. Last night he responded to Engel by saying that Engel’s constituents probably wouldn’t be too happy about him spending all that time waiting for President Obama.

I wish he would come out already. This speculation is beginning to be too much fun.
I agree with him on Obamania, but I have to say I would do some waiting for a better seat.

Well I think President Obama AND Anderson Cooper are both attractive and I was VERY happy watching Anderson interview him recently in the Oval Office, eye candy galore.

Anderson’s alleged boyfriend is in this video and he likes a tiny bit like the President, ears-wise at least. At the 1:50 mark when Ron Howard shows up.

I like Andy, but he really needs to start dressing better when he’s off camera. Black jeans and a beat short sleave polo. ALL THE TIME. WTF, spend some of that money dude.

What a stupid comment–everyone knows that members of Congress make their lowest level staff members stake out those spots and then, when the staffers are required to vacate, they set up mobile offices on the floor to continue to manage their office business. Also, what kind of reporter thinks it’s smart to be snarky to a member of Congress? The more I hear about this Anderson Cooper the more I think he’s an overprivileged dickweed that needs to come out of his glass closet and get a little real. He reminds me way too much of the whitebread gay boys in Chelsea who were upset that Obama beat HRC and can’t seem to realize that there are people really suffering outside of Manhattan.

I am a constituent of Engel’s. He is a reliable, progressive supporter of the LGBT community, and indeed of progressive causes in general. I am not concerned that he spent his time that way. He is there for us when we have needed him.

@bboy78: I agree about the being snarky, but what was reported is that Engel did sit there himself for 12.5 hours, that was the whole point.

Cooper has traveled to war zones, seen famines and natural disasters, has been going to Africa since he was 17, I really do think he gets there’s life ouside Manhattan, whomever he reminds you of.

Why didn’t Anderson’s “boyfriend” get in the car with him when he left?

@Nick, because as everyone at Queerty knows, Anderson’s “closeted”.

And also because that guy has been seen and photographed with Anderson a few times, but it’s not clear what the real nature of their relationship is.

OMG, when will Anderson Vanderbilt Cooper, legacy Yalie, with boyfriend in tow, actually make his psychosexuality known? Let’s face it, the son of Gloria Vanderbilt needs to become himself. If you have gone to a gay bar in the Village, or downtown, you know that Cooper is gay.
