Anderson Cooper Loves His Mother

Anderson Cooper‘s such a mama’s boy! Page Six passes word that the 40-year old CNN anchor (pictured with his mother and late brother, Carter) proudly displays his famous mother’s portrait in his Manhattan apartment. And apparently it’s quite the draw:

Anderson Cooper has a huge photographic portrait of his iconic mom, denim designer Gloria Vanderbilt, taken when she was young, hanging in a guest room in his Manhattan loft – and it’s a huge hit with his guests, said a spy. “People always go in there to check it out.”

Too bad it’s not in his bedroom, huh? Wait, that would actually be creepy…

Meanwhile, in other gay gossip, Ellen DeGeneres hasn’t given up her animal activist. Despite the much-publicized Iggy-Gate, the lesbian comedienne has joined forces with former Meow Mix owner Richard Thompson to rehabilitate ramshackle shelters.

DeGeneres has featured Thompson on her show to talk about the campaign and the first project – a makeover of a sanctuary in Monkey Run, Ark. – is currently under way, with Thompson footing the bill.

“We’re halfway done now,” Thompson told Page Six. “We’ve been redoing it for a woman named Janice Wolf, who was found by Ellen. We bulldozed the place, and we’re building a new hay barn and a new barn. She’s got almost 60 animals, including a zebra, some Watusi cattle and 20 dogs, some that are three-legged, blind and deaf.”

DeGeneres and Thompson became friends because they are both “pet nuts,” said Thompson, who added that he doesn’t mind his pal basking in the spotlight while he does the hard labor and foots the bill.

Three-legged, blind, deaf dogs? Ellen’s definitely coming back strong!
