Piers comes off a little too smug and arrogant for me and in spite of his cockiness, he’s not going to be the savior of CNN. It’s a sinking ship.

why do people knock CNN? from my cursory observations it has the biggest ‘mo/per show quota of any news organisation. in fact any organisation ANYWHERE.
anytime soon i expect to see them interviewing whilst sipping woo woos. wearing gold lame blousons .as the set designer recreates the glory days of studio 54 as bianca jagger makes her triumphal entrance astride a white horse or larry king depending on the budget.

@jason: It does not make him a hypocrite to be critical of DADT while not coming out explicitly to the general public. Getting rid of DADT is about getting rid of a law that says gay and lesbian service people will be dismissed if their sexuality comes to light to their superiors and forbids them from exposing it to anyone. Anderson Cooper’s sexuality has come to light all kinds of public ways that would violate DADT and he’s exposed it to lots of people including bosses and co-workers and allowed it to be common knowledge in his industry.
If DADT is repealed it will mean that service people will have a free choice about what to reveal when to superiors, fellow service people, and the general public about their sexuality without that threat of automatic dismissal. It just means if it comes out one way or another the military won’t be compelled to dismiss them. Repeal won’t compel service people to come out, they will have a choice about when and if to come out like civilians have.
