How did Anderson Cooper respond to a very somber introduction to his commencement speech at Tulane University? By following up the rattling off of his list of accomplishments by telling students he was basically drunk on his own graduation day and very well may have been having gay sex the night of.
Giving a college commencement speech, if you haven’t already learned this week, is a rite of passage for news anchors. There’s a lot of pressure here, too: Parents want to remember their kids’ graduation with star power, and if Cooper had bombed not only would it have been burned into the memories of now debt-riddled parents, but on YouTube too.
Fortunately, Cooper delivered. But college sex jokes are always funny. They’re also easy, just like having sex in college.
(Cooper takes the stage around the 3:30 mark)
Your pronounced the “Lauren” in “Ralph Lauren” wrong, dude.

Wow, that was quite an introduction. It was a good balance of portraying A.C. as a man of both style and substance. With the exception of the mispronunciation of Lauren, the Pres had obviously done his homework. He did fail to mention that Anderson had also been a waiter at Mortimer’s restaurant.
Anderson doesn’t always wear Prada. In fact, he wears a fair amount of the upper end of Ralph Lauren such as the Purple Label.
A.C. spoke with a mixture of grace and humor, and his remarks were spot on for identification from his target audience of graduates. His honesty and subtle self-deprecation were well received.

Thank goodness for Anderson Cooper — I don’t care about his personal life — just his integrity and the honesty of his program content.
He has had some adventures in his early life despite the silver spoon in his mouth which can always lead to taking the “easy rich-kid path in life” — he chose differently — and given his now “star status” – I am sure there will be more adventures to come — all the best to him !
