Andy Cohen appears to be trash and Bravo is a horrible excuse for a TV channel.
Seriously, why do we even pay attention to people like Andy? He’s got very little in common with ordinary gay men. Too much time in the celebrity-driven media divorces gay men from the reality of what it means to be a gay man in America. His use of the twink word is testament to that.

Why does he have to apologize? They’re all over 18, it doesn’t matter how young their fans are, the singers themselves are all legal adults.

@WayDifferent: That is a racist thing to say and something that, as a gay Jewish man, I find really personally offensive. Even more so on a gay website. People that are hated should never hate. That, as MLK said, only increases the hate.

Most straight people don’t even know what twink means, especially anyone over 30. It is not sexually charged at all, it is a name for a certain type of young guy, which they fit pretty closely. I don’t think he needed to apologize, but then maybe he was just covering all his bases.

I don’t see why he apologized, let’s see they are young, they “play” and smack each other, they are focused on their appearances, their music is bubblegum pop and as their music they can be thrown away and a new one will be replacing them, in essence these kids are twinks, good to hear them once but never twice; yes, I firmly believe they are twinks if he value them on their music and image.

@LaTeesha: I heard about them by accident when I friend of mine who is 28 sent me the song, I asked her Andrea they look a little bit weird. And, she said their name, One Direction but I couldn’t distinguish them from 20 other boybands from the last 30 years.

Maybe they did it because they don’t need more people fueling the “One Direction is gay flames”, really its know that one guy in every boy band is gay (even the black ones). Everybody says it’s Harry and Louis and after seeing their pics together I’m starting to believe it.

“Twink” is a nice way of putting it. They are a collective of mildly talented to not talented at all, but attractive himbos (Seinfeld ref), who on their own would be nothing. You wouldn’t hear from them. You wouldn’t hear their songs on the radio. But under the guidance of a music company Svengali, who understands music marketing 101 – RE horny teenage girls looking for a fantasy boyfriend = mucho mucho profits, they were able to get their 15.
To wrap it up, they’re in a boyband and are paid to basically look good . That is twink. If it wasn’t a boyband, it would be escorting.
