Anti-Gay Vandal Hits Up VT Car

Not all Vermonters are peace loving hippies…

A vandal recently defaced Alexis Smith’s car with a familiar anti-gay epithet. Smith had parked her car in a park-and-ride lot on Tuesday and returned to find its hood adorned with a big, yellow “fag”.

This isn’t the first time this small town’s been rocked by a hateful crime. Earlier this summer, a burglar broke into a Jewish families home and sketched swastikas on their wall. Of the incidents, Smith said, “I feel like because of what else has gone on, this is a really big issue in Montpelier. This is not OK.” No, not it’s not, but it has spurred Smith to take a new political view:

I’m not gay. I’m not a gay activist. But I am now. I’m going out to the flag store right now and putting a big rainbow flag on here.
