The American Family Association just published a “bigotry map” that lists the addresses of LGBT organizations and charities around the country.
The purpose of the map?
To identify “groups and organizations that openly display bigotry toward the Christian faith,” the AFA claims.
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
But it gets even creepier.
The map also gives specific directions on how to get to the various offices in case people want to… visit?
The whole thing brings back frightening memories of the time Sarah Palin published a map with cross hairs of a rifle scope over Gabrielle Gifford’s district with the instructions “Don’t retreat. Instead–RELOAD” back in 2011. We all know how that ended.
Thankfully, many of the markers on the AFA’s “bigotry map” appear to be inaccurate, although there are plenty that provide correct locations.
One of the organizations listed on the map is the Human Rights Campaign headquarters, which AFA describes as “the nation’s largest homosexual organization in America” with a “driving agenda” to legalize gay marriage, [bully] American corporations to embrace sexual perversion and [encourage] lawsuits against Christian-owned businesses and states.”
Also listed on the map is the anti-bullying organization GLSEN, which the AFA believes “infiltrates public schools with pro-homosexual indoctrination tactics, confusing many young people and misleading them into making dangerous and unhealthy lifestyle choices that will negatively affect their entire lives.”
“These groups are deeply intolerant towards the Christian religion,” the AFA says. “Their objectives are to silence Christians and to remove all public displays of Christian heritage and faith in America.”
Sooooo yeah.
We can’t see this ending well.

They are a terrorist group plain and simple.
And christian states? There are no christian states. THe US is NOT a christian nation. Idaho has legislation proposing it be declared a christian state but that is grossly unconstitutional.

I wonder if they’re partnering with the NRA.
Next chapter: A Christian lunatic opens fire on a gay rights organization. AFA spokesman says: “We’re not responsible for this. We didn’t tell anyone to attack these groups. We don’t advocate violence.” No, they just paint targets on gay people and point killers in the right direction.
GG
Curious how those responsible for this call themselves Christians, yet not an iota of Christ’s love to be found in their actions.
Ann Mason
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SLPC) has a map of hate groups on their site, but without street or mailbox addresses. They list state and city locations. It’s obvious the SLPC is informing the public of how common these groups are, but not encouraging harassment. That’s responsible behavior.
By the way, The American Family Association is on the SLPC’s list. The AFA is definitely a hate group.

‘I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.’ – Mahatma Gandhi
Never truer than now.
Giancarlo85
@Ann Mason: Well, the SLPC is more civilized than the AFA. The AFA is basically encouraging people to go out there and commit violent actions against equality groups.
Remember these are the same people who target abortion clinics.
I think someone once said on here they aren’t terrorist groups. But they actually are. These are domestic terrorists.
Giancarlo85
I must add groups like AFA supported the “Kill the gays” bill in Uganda and have ties with that country’s dictator. They love the dictatorship in Uganda. These same christian fanatics would be happy if America adopted a similar law as Uganda.
NiceNCool1
If I made a bigotry map for Tennessee’s ant-gay bigoted churches there would be so many that it would just look like group of pins shaped like Tennessee. Screw these people. They have deserved every ounce if ire that I have thrown them over the years.
Cyn
Same assholes published a map of abortion clinics and the rights groups that support them. One came up to me on the street and told me my home address and my daughter’s name and school. It’s an intimidation tactic.

The AFA is financially backed by the creators of the Tea Party, Charles and David Koch. They’re the second wealthiest men in the U.S. and head Koch Industries. Their main business is oil, but they have much more on their list of accomplishments.
The Koch Brothers are responsible for the Tea Party’s infiltration of Congress, the Supreme Court, and the governorship and legislators in the red states. The red states aren’t just the states in the Southeastern U.S. Michigan and Wisconsin, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and more have been infiltrated with bought and paid for politicians the Kochs have placed in order to make a land grab of the nation and to form an Oligarchy to overthrow the U.S. government in order to achieve corporate rule. They are supported by not-for-profit fund raising organizations that helps them accumulate the money for buying politicians, justices, lawyers, anything in the nature of authority that we pay for with our taxes.
Senators like Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, John Boehner, to name afew, are owned by the Koch Brothers and Monsanto, the corporation that sues farmers if they don’t buy their seeds. Supreme Court Justice Thomas is a former employee of Monsanto. He and Justice Scalia, along with Senators Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Lee of California have been seen at Koch Brothers fundraisers. They all take bribes from the Kochs and other lobbyists, and allow those lobbyists to sit with them in their Congressional offices, write their own bills and pay the Senators to have them pushed through.
If you’re wondering what all this has to do with the LGBT, I’ll tell you. The largest supporters of the Kochs and the politicians and others bought by the Kochs are the fundamentalist Christian organizations, which includes AFA. Fundamentalist preacher Lively is being sued by Uganda’s LGBT for his participation in Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” bill. Along with many others, I personally wrote to Uganda’s Chief and berated him for listening to any fundamentalist Christian from the United States. I reminded him that this was not the original way Christianity was taught to the African people and that even then Africa was given the Bible and robbed of their valuables in the usual practice of conquering and amassing fortunes by the very wealthy backed by lies and religion.
I frequently send emails to Senator Bernie Sanders (our best hope as far as anyone in Washington, D.C. having our backs and the backs of all the middle class). I’m asking that LGBT persons take the attacks by the hate groups very seriously and pressure your representatives for protection. As you well know, the Democrats haven’t done the best of jobs in standing up to the right wing lunatics and it’s because of a lack of pressure from the people who are most at risk of losing everything – America’s middle class.
The hate groups are dead serious and, frankly, we are rapidly heading in the direction of becoming the Fourth Reich. From what I’ve learned from watchdogs, we are one step away from becoming a fascist nation overthrown by an Oligarchy. That last step will be the signing of the Trade Pacific Partnership by President Obama. It is imperative that the president DOES NOT sign that trade agreement because, as put by the last of the honest American journalists, Bill Moyers, it will be the end of Democracy in the United States.
I’ve said enough for now, but leaks from that Trade Agreement (the TPP was put together by the Koch Brothers) have made it clear what the Oligarchy has planned for us and twelve other nations on the Pacific Rim. The TPP is totally confidential and only the leaders of those nations are allowed to know its contents. Our Congress and the legislators of the other countries will be given a Fast Track version to approve and then when the leaders sign we can kiss our asses good-bye.
The Koch Brothers’ father, Fred Koch, was one of the authors of the John Birch Society agenda. Charles and David modeled the Tea Party after the John Birch Society and it includes doing away with Social Security (Sen. Ryan’s itching to do that), Medicare and Medicaid. The Kochs already went as far as segregating schools in Wake County, North Carolina but the students, teachers, parents, and locals protested strongly enough to get the Koch influence removed. However, the state of North Carolina is still under the influence of Koch cash.
Okay, LGBT, we have to become very responsible if we want to save our asses from the world of bigotry that’s about to land on this nation. Before it’s too late, I urge you to organize and put pressure on your representatives. Go to their websites or find out their email addresses. I also advise that you write to Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, our two best hopes of keeping the Oligarchy at bay. I’m not making any of this up. If you’d like to join me on Facebook, my group of FB friends and I discuss all of the matters that concern the behind-the-scenes plans of the right wing and what will happen if we don’t take action against them. I do not in any way advocate violence. Most of the people in my group are straight but support the LGBT community and same-sex marriage. A lot are close to my age (almost 69) and are wise to all the tricks the right wing will play just to get power over the people. Above all, we need the strength of numbers and considering Americans are being strangely silent in the midst of all the crimes being committed at high levels – we are besieged by traitors – it’s time to get serious and push back against the bigots who are out to own us and do as they wish with the LGBT. And I can honestly say that it will not be pleasant. So far they have followed all the same steps Hitler took in creating the Third Reich. We are now on the doorstep of the Fourth Reich and LGBT will either be shoved back into the closets or somehow put to death. The fundamentalists are choosing ways from the Old Testament to kill us off.
Sorry for the length of this. But time, of course, is of the essence. That map they distributed cannot be taken as a joke.
Ann Mason
@Giancarlo85: I think you may have misinterpreted my comment.
I was not suggesting that the SLPC was wrong or acting in bad faith when they compiled their list of hate groups. They did it responsibly.
Most of us who read Queerty posts are aware that the AFA is a hate group, and we recognize that it’s dangerous.
I was only pointing out that when an organization wants to behave ethically and warn the public of a threat from a particular group of people, they should go about it the way SLPC has. Obviously, the AFA’s list is way out of line.
Giancarlo85
@Ann Mason: Gotcha. I understand.
MarionPaige
Don’t worry, ya’ll’s got the right to marry.
hyhybt
It would have been good to reproduce the legend along with the map, so as not to drive traffic to AFA’s site by those of us who want to know what they mean by the various symbols.
NoCagada
@MarionPaige: 1. No, not all…just some depending on the state
2. You’re an idiot.
Lvng1Tor
I am so pissed! I work for an LGBT non profit in Michigan and we didn’t make the list! I work very hard every day to push the gay agenda and the least they could have done was recognize that. Last year at pride we had 3rd string, d list bigots like Slushie Mom protest us…how am I ever gonna get major league A’s like WBC if we are left off these lists?
Daniel-Reader
Hate groups are trying to murder gay people like their religion tells them. They have already had the state governments of Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas commit genocide against GLBT people, and West Virginia is next. They don’t care how many gay kids kill themselves. These groups are evil – the KKK kind of Christianity.
Saint Law
@MarionPaige: I swear I could leave fifty years between looking at these threads and you would STILL be cacking on against gay marriage.
edwardnvirginia
We have heard time and time again – and again in this blog – from LGBTQ people: “I HATE CHRISTIANS’. And, no one calls them out as bigots and haters. Why? If an article appeared in Queerty, etc and LGBTQ said and blogged ‘I HATE JEWS’ … would you all be silent?
Billysees
@GG:
“Curious how those responsible for this call themselves Christians, yet not an iota of Christ’s love to be found in their actions.”
How true.

@jwtraveler:
Worthy to be repeated —
“I wonder if they’re partnering with the NRA.
Next chapter: A Christian lunatic opens fire on a gay rights organization.
AFA spokesman says: “We’re not responsible for this. We didn’t tell anyone to attack these groups. We don’t advocate violence.”
No, they just paint targets on gay people and point killers in the right direction.”
Giancarlo85
@edwardnvirginia: And who said they hate Christians? Care to explain and show me the quotes. The consensus on here seems to be that many of us don’t like Christian extremists.
And I bet you many gay people are moderate Christian or believe in god. So your statement is nonsense.
Giancarlo85
By the way, religion is a choice, being gay is not. So lets not equate the two. And nobody said they hate Christians. Go back to fox news please.
