A Chicago-based Christian leader sparked national controversy Monday when he made odd remarks about gay and lesbian parents.
While out protesting against Illinois’ pending same-sex marriage legislation, Apostle Paul David Rodgers (pictured) told his local news station: “Our nation is not built on the strength of its army or its finances, but what goes on in our living rooms. Family has always been and will always be the foundation and bedrock of society and so we’re going to stand for what God ordained.”
Oh, brother.
When asked how he felt about same-sex couples becoming parents, Rodgers said, “Well, we have 5-year-olds who think they can drive cars, but the reality is there is a certain way that things are structured and there are certain things that are in order.”

In true hypocritical fashion, Rodgers finished by saying that politicians should concentrate on more important things than what adults did in their bedrooms… Just so long as those adults are a male lion and a female lion.

No Brother, this country was created on the backs of slaves not viewed as complete humans beings and the displacement of Native Americans from their homeland. As a fellow African American we BOTH know that our community has large issues with crime, drugs, and lack of education. You would better serve the black community by working on those issues and than standing on the wrong side of history on gay rights. It is religious leaders like you that caused me to leave the black church.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the line in the Preamble to the Constitution which states “provide for the common defense” directly means that this country will be built upon military strength. Furthermore, hasn’t it been shown that many of the founding fathers had illegitimate children, some with their own African slaves?
I’m just saying, before you use your beliefs or your religion to deny the rights of others, perhaps you should make sure that your knowledge is beyond question.

@DarSco: The sisters cant have a baby by herself, she need a seed and where does the seed come from? Man,so both need to be address. the discussion should be why these men who father these kids don’t wrap up or step up and take on there responsiblities. There wouldnt be so many unwanted babies. The issue is there need to be more role models to teach both, How to be virturous women and how to be real Godly men. It takes a community, to make a difference. Stop disrespecting the women and give the men a pat on the back. There both responsible. God bless you
