And as any current or former student of a college with Greek culture knows, when bros collide en mass they tend to embrace a certain brand of insecurity-quelling homophobia.

Which often makes it hard for gay surfers to feel comfortable expressing their identities freely. That’s the subject of Caught Inside: The Taboo of Being a Gay Surfer, a video that takes a look down under at Australia’s gay surfing community.
