Compared to the Romper Room reunion that was the Republican presidential candidates’ debate, the debate among the Democratic presidential candidates last night was a bit like a PBS documentary–very earnest, aimed at a middle-class audience, and a bit longer than necessary.
A lot of the padding had to do with the addition of a couple of non-candidates–Lincoln Chafee, a former Republican from Rhode Island whose chances of winning are smaller than his state, and Jim Webb, a former Senator for Virginia who spent his time complaining that he wasn’t getting enough air time even though he is barely campaigning at all.
That left former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Hillary. The mainstream media is desperate for a race, when in fact, there isn’t one. Hillary is so far out in front of Sanders, who will never win the support of the party establishment, that the only question is how long can Sanders last. That’s especially true after Clinton’s debate performance, which was sharp and solid. She looked presidential.
What the debate did bring up is that LGBTQ issues won’t be front and center for the Democrats. True, CNN moderator Anderson Cooper didn’t bring any of our (and his) issues up, but the candidates didn’t feel the need to make much mention of us either. There were some passing references by O’Malley and Chafee, and Clinton included a vow to “do everything I can to heal the divides — the divides economically, because there’s too much inequality; the racial divides; the continuing discrimination against the LGBT community.”
How about we take this to the next level?
Our newsletter is like a refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) of LGBTQ+ entertainment and pop culture, served up with a side of eye-candy.
Which is great, as far as it goes. We’re now a standard applause line amidst the campaign rhetoric. But in the absence of a burning issue, like marriage equality, it unlikely that the Democrats are going to be pushing bold new LGBTQ policies. What we’re going to get are defenses against Republican attacks and reminders as to who got us to where we are today (so cough up the cash, please).
That’s not nothing, but it’s an invitation to taking the vote for granted. It’s not like the GOP is a realistic alternative. The current media darling, Marco Rubio, likes to hang around with homophobes like Mat Staver, Kim Davis’s extreme attorney.
Of course, candidates respond to pressure. If they think they don’t have to pay anything more than lip service, that’s all they’ll do. In the absence of a strong signal from the community about taking us to the next level, whoever the Democratic nominee is will be perfectly satisfied to take a victory lap on the party’s behalf.
The question may not be so much whether the Democrats will take us for granted. It may be, will we let them?
Bailey Bednar
Yes, they are. Because we know what we get if we vote republican. We really aren’t swing voters they need to ‘woo’. They know they already have the gay vote for democrats.
John Smith
Is this a F*ck1ng sersious question??
Rene Sosa
What, now a gay lives matter moment? Who else are people gonna vote for, Huckaby???
Giancarlo85
It was a fine debate, with Hillary pulling out on top. Still I like what they had to say, including Sanders. Taking us for granted? Why would that be? Did a Log Cabin republican write this crapshoot of an article?
Giancarlo85
And one other thing I just fucking roll my eyes when someone says “the democrats are taking LGBTQQI voters for granted”… what a pile of crap. They are the only ones actually pushing for reform including workplace anti-discrimination protection.
Desert Boy
When we go the polls, remember, you’re voting to protect the U.S. Supreme Court. There are at least two justices likely to retire in the next four to five years. We can’t allow their replacements to be conservative justices. This would be a disaster for the LGBT community.
The High Court is already a narrow 5/4.
Walt Andersen
Some of them are, A definite yes!!
Jacob Shipton
Yes. Remember people: there are other parties out there. The Green Party, for instance, fully supports LGBT equality.
Ra Hill
She is the only one who spoke about LGBT at debate… rest were silent !!!
Danny Manzo
so not voting for Hillary…… so not!!!!
Louis
Who wrote this article? The democrats have supported us far more then the republicans ever will or have in this country.
This article seems like an attempt to make petty jabs at those candidates who actually do support us unlike any of the republican candidates who are completely and totally against us and our rights as Americans.
Brandon Long
Ben Carson yesterday said gay marriage “disrespects God”. He is one of the top two candidates.
I also refuse to vote for anyone who thinks climate change isn’t real and women’s rights shouldn’t be protected.
Trump would have us in war with his loose tongue… this list could get long.
Alistair Wiseman
You have to ask!?! Of course, they take the LGBT (and Black) vote for granted. This from a group of clowns that couldn’t even say say ‘all lives matter’ (although Webb finally relented). Pathetic.
neiljoecos
Seriously??? Who cares, what are you gonna do vote for a republican? Lord. I think we’re fine…there are plenty of problems we need to address.
jag4313
I never noticed how sexy O’Malley is. It was nice to finally have some eye candy during the debate. #Hillary2016
Bob Ashworth
Hillary all the way
Robert Barber
Whats the alternative?
Brian
Anderson Cooper should have brought up more of the gay issue. Why didn’t he? What’s he afraid of?
As for Hillary, there was a clue to her character when she said she believes in finding common ground for opposing viewpoints. Well, dear Hillary, if that is your position on gay rights then we would never have achieved what we have under Obama.
Hillary is a common-ground personality, a trait she shares with her husband. Common ground gave us Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Message to Hillary: you are pathetic and undeserving of a single gay vote.
Josh Nollenberg
GLBT people who vote for Republicans will only help them to overturn the gains that we have made. There isn’t a choice – a vote for a Republican is a vote for continued discrimination and denigration.
Billy Budd
What a ridiculous question. Who in their right mind would vote for Donald Trump?
Luis Collazo
Every republican is against marriage and equal rights for gays so do we have a choice?
Brian
On the hustings, Hillary’s hair looks like a bowl of spaghetti that’s been attacked by a pitbull. Her skin is sagging like outdoor curtains after a rain storm, and her eyes have developed a hollow appearance suggesting a metamorphosis to canis lupus.
Remember this about her: she tolerated her husband’s infidelity.
What a poor role model she is for women! You’d have to be a self-loathing woman to vote for her.
Jack Kear
No
Craig Bankert
Nope. They know they will always have it. And they will.
Cam
What is the author’s agenda here? If he thinks something should have been stated then list it out. Otherwise all we have are vague (they didn’t mention us) lines.
So what should the candidates have said even though they weren’t asked? Or was this merely click bait.
Nathaniel McManus
We are not the “problem.”
BJ McFrisky
Anyone who thinks Clinton’s motive in “supporting” us is anything short of pandering is fooling themselves. She’ll change her tune on any subject (as she has) to gain support when she’s lagging. Her ambition surpasses any compassion she might have ever had, as evidenced that she’ll tell us anything she thinks we want to hear. She’s all about Hillary first—the rest of us are simply there to prop up her ego.
Oh yeah—and she lies. About everything.
Dean Long
They are pandering to the lgbt community
Dean Long
And I won’t vote for any of these dems
Dan Levin
They pretty much can take our vote for granted. They are talking about equality and the republicans want us gone. It’s an obvious choice.
Mike Messing

As a straight male, perhaps I shouldn’t be saying this. But it seems to me that if a LGBTQ person votes Republican the only 2 logical reasons would be it’s more beneficial for them financially and this outweighs the rights held by LGBTQ individuals. Or is there another prominent reason like not fully accepting who they are or at some level a self loathing for who they are? hope this isn’t out of line, just very interested in input.
Xzamilio
Bernie Sanders didn’t have to say a damn thing… his record speaks for itself.
Xzamilio
@Ra Hill: Oooh, she spoke about it at a debate. Compare her track record with LGBT rights to Bernie Sanders… miss me with this revisionist history of this woman
Dev.C
It’s just the first debate and considering the alternative to Democrats we definitely could do a lot worse. I don’t see the benefit for a Republican to be in the white house for any minority, war is big business to them and keeping wealthy people in power over the impoverished.
Arcamenel
Hillary Clinton still supports the Patriot Act, the NSA spying and would jail Edward Snowden. She also let her war hawk side out last night and lied about her flip flopping on the TPP. I don’t understand why media is saying she won when Bernie is literally winning every poll about who won. You are all in her camp because she mentioned “teh gayz” once really? Whose the won whose been walking with the LGBT community long before it was good politically? I don’t want another Clinton in the office and I damn sure don’t want Hillary’s corporate ass in there. #Bernie2016 and you better believe last night’s debate helped him more a helluva lot more than it helped that war hawk.
Louis Goodrich
They should. Why waste the time, money, energy on a base that will overwhelmingly vote for them? I’d consider them stupid if they did. I’m in the choir, so to speak. 😉
Cam

And here once again you have BJ attacking ANY candidate that isn’t a republican. Fine BJ, here is an opening for you to say something meaningful.
Please tell us which republican candidate would be better on LGBT issues that Clinton.
Here is your chance.
Gregory Gadow
It sure as Hell wouldn’t be the first time. This is why we desperately need a working democracy, with more than just two parties.
JerseyMike
If you don’t like what the Democrats are doing.. vote Repug or don’t vote.. As a gay black man I can’t expect everything to be about black people or gay people.. any issue that is going to benefit us all is a benefit to black people and gay people.. We need to stop thinking everything has to be about a certain group.. What have the republicans done for you lately?
wagnerwallace
I dont understand how anyone with half a brain could support Hillary Clinton.
It’s not yet clear to me she has any record of accomplishment. Carly was right – Hillary supporters can never tell you what her accomplishments are. What are her real, lasting accomplishments from her decades of service? Does any legislation or diplomatic agreement stand out?
And I’m not talking about travel, or “speaking out”, or speeches… I’m asking for accomplishments. Seems reasonable to expect at least one per decade – so what are three key accomplishments that stand out for her?
In her most important vote as senator, she strongly supported the invasion of Iraq under the Bush administration. The same war that ppl use to call Bush a bad president!
But I’m sure everything about Hillary will be ignored by the gay community, and we’ll continue to post “YAAAAAS!” and “YOU GO GIRL!” all over social media in support of her. Wake up people…
Giancarlo85
@Brian: sorry Smeds but you didn’t actually say anything of substance. Hillary came out swinging and all you have said are a bunch of red herrings and logical fallacies. I think what happened here is you are very afraid. Hillary showed authority and power. Even the Sanders leaning Huffington Post notes she totally dominated the debate. Sanders did a good job too I will say and seemed friendly with Hillary despite it being a debate. Kudos to him on the comment of the non issue if the emails. A manufactured scandal that so far has shown nothing.
@Arcamenel: Wrong. Sanders did not win the debate, he didn’t do a bad job though. But no poll said he won. And Clinton was consistent in what she said. Did you actually watch the debate? Maybe you should take off the sunglasses. She didn’t say anything that was war hawk like. And you know that her strong performance will put her way on top once again. Sorry, while Sanders did good he didn’t show any real authority and for parts was overshadowed completely.
alphacentauri
@BJ McFrisky: Agreed.
@wagnerwallace: Yeah she’s not getting my vote. I don’t like Sanders either so I am probably not going to vote.
Cam
Oh Look,
The Log Cabin accounts are in here. And ONCE AGAIN, do you notice how they keep making vague accusations against Democrats, but they will never, EVER point out any republican that would be better.
Hey, to the last 4 commenters, and BJ Once again, you keep attacking the Dem candidates and especially Hillary, please point out which of the GOP candidates don’t want to roll back LGBT rights or attack the community.
Put up or shut up.
Giancarlo85
@BJ McFrisky: Awesome, so what are republicans going to do for us? Oh that’s right. Destroy everything we worked so hard to get. You are totally clueless. You have never said anything of substance. Yet another person afraid of Hillary, who will crush any republican that she comes up against.
@wagnerwallace: The troll has come out of the woodwork. Hillary was Secretary of State and did a fine job, so what has Carly Fiorina done? Ironic Carly attacked Hillary on her record, yet her own record shows her destroying HP. What is Carly’s record? What the fuck has she done for this country or anyone?
Carly’s record: She destroyed 40,000 jobs at HP and did a botched merger with Compaq that cost the company billions. The company never recovered from that. Asides from that… nothing else. She tried to run for California governor but never made out of the primaries. She wasn’t able to find another CEO job after his complete failure at HP.
You’re a republican so you probably supported the War in Iraq (most definitely, and you look like a Carly supporter who is a neo-conservative). I am voting for Hillary because I have a brain and you don’t have one. I look at where she stands and she made a strong impression.
@alphacentauri: Good for you. You might as well vote republican. What a joke. You do realize you’re basically voting for the Supreme Court too?
Giancarlo85
@Cam: The numerous trolls alphacentauri, wagnerbullshitartist, and McFriksy all parroting each other and posting lies… Wagnerbullshitartist seems to have a few screws loose. He actually brought up Carly Fiorina as a way to attack Hillary’s record. What has Fiorina ever done for this country? NOTHING. In fact because of her 40,000 people lost their jobs.
These fucking gay log cabiners… they’ll say anything to try to bring down Hillary. And then claim they aren’t going to vote for her and aren’t impressed. Yeah, that was already determined. These creeps are going to vote republican.
Giancarlo85
@Giancarlo85: *her complete failure at HP.
Michael Clifford
Of course they are.
wagnerwallace
@Giancarlo85: I don’t support Carly Fiorina. I’m simply stating that she was right. And in your effort to bash me, you still didnt tell me 1 real accomplishment from Hillary Clinton. What legislation or diplomatic agreement stand out?
Let’s be mature and have an adult conversation. Grownups are allowed to disagree. You seem to immaturely bash anyone who doesn’t subscribe to your viewpoint.
AtticusBennett
if you wanna see the most broken and pathetic gay men in america look no further than any gay man who votes for a republican candidate in 2016. and we all know why they’ll do it – it’s what they have to do so their shi**t conservative families will let them sit at the same table as them at Christmas.
wagnerwallace
@Cam: JOHN KASICH is a Republican candidate that is definitely a lot better than Hillary and Bernie. But, he’s not on TV being obnoxious and over-the-top, so identity voters, like yourself, aren’t paying him much attention.
wagnerwallace
@AtticusBennett: lol okay you tell yourself that. My family is actually Democrat and we have these debates all the time.
Giancarlo85
@wagnerwallace: Her time of Secretary of State was a success and you are too blind to see that. You are spouting off while you know nothing about Hillary. Carly is a total hypocrite.
@wagnerwallace: oh really? Why is he better? He has done a shit job as Governor and opposed same sex marriage. Identity voters… Bullshit. You are an identity voter simply because you vote republican. What good does Kasich offer asides from being a shit governor like Jeb Bush and Bobby Jindal?
You are totally clueless. You are not a grownup. You act like a child.
Giancarlo85
@AtticusBennett: Wallace demands an adult like discussion, yet resorts to childish antics like most log cabin types. He can’t actually explain why any republican would be better than Hillary. Kasich lol? Fat fucking chance. He is just like Jeb Bush.
moldisdelicious
Think that lgbt community is taking the lgbt community for granted. We all we got but yet we don’t show ourselves or each other enough respect. Notice that since the marriage ruling, folks got real quiet about legal protections for gay people in the workplace. There’s more than 30 states where an employeee can be fired from their job if employers find out that they’re gay. Same goes for housing discrimination where we are not legally protected. Folks are worried about sex and prostitutes getting locked up. These are REAL issues that are affect us.
Cam
@wagnerwallace: said… “@Cam: JOHN KASICH is a Republican candidate that is definitely a lot better than Hillary and Bernie.”
______________________________
Why are you lying? Do you think people here don’t follow politics? That is the problem with you Log Cabiners, you actually think that you are so special and different and nobody else follows the news. No, your lies are easy to spot. How easy? This easy…..
Kasich ok’d the fight against Gay marriage in Ohio, he has stated clearly that he is opposed to same sex marriage.
So explain exactly what you mean when you say that he is better than Hillary and Bernie on LGBT issues.
Oh wait, that’s right, you were just hoping you could vomit out the latest lie from Mount Bullsh*t and nobody here would question you. Sorry to ruin your plans.
wagnerwallace
@Giancarlo85: You werent tagged in those posts. Why don’t you focus on the post I tagged you in, which asked what are Hillary Clinton’s standout accomplishments? What legislation or diplomatic agreement standout when it comes to Mrs. Clinton.
Please respond to the post I tagged you in before replying to my later responses to other people.
moldisdelicious
@moldisdelicious: same goes for Transgendered people/gender identity. While folks are worried about looking great in speedo, sex and their love/sex lives. We still are a disadvantage group that is vulnerable in terms of institutional discrimination.
Giancarlo85
@wagnerwallace: I’ve already gone through her achievements. Now tell me, what has Kasich done asides from totally mismanage a state and oppose same sex marriage? Absolutely fucking nothing. You keep naming republicans because that’s all you can do… yet you can’t explain to me their accomplishments. That makes you a hypocrite.
Kasich not only opposed same sex marriage, but he made the standard of living worse for people in Ohio. Surely you will probably say some bullshit like “At least he ran a state” (into the ground I might add)… I’ll say “George W Bush ran a state too”… what difference does it make? Obama was criticized for the same thing, yet has proved to be a far better President than Dubya or any republican would be.
wagnerwallace
@Cam: Gay marriage is a dead issue, and Hillary Clinton was against it until it recently became popular in the polls.
However, here’s is what Kasich said about it 2 months ago. How can anyone rag on this statement…?
“Well, look, I’m an old-fashioned person here, and I happen to believe in traditional marriage. But I’ve also said the court has ruled … and I said we’ll accept it. And guess what, I just went to the wedding of a friend of mine who happens to be gay. Because somebody doesn’t think the way I do doesn’t mean that I can’t care about them or I can’t love them. So, if one of my daughters happened to be that, of course I would love them, and I would accept them, because you know what, that’s what we’re taught when we have strong faith. Issues like that are planted to divide us. … We need to give everybody a chance, treat everybody with respect, and let them share in this great American dream that we have, Megyn, I’m going to love my daughters, I’m going to love them no matter what they do, because you know what? God gives me unconditional love, I’m going to give it to my family and my friends and the people around me.”
Giancarlo85
@Cam: I’ve already asked him to explain why Kasich is better than the democrats, yet he refuses to provide any real answers. This is a typical gay republican… bait and switch. He’ll attack Hillary, say Kasich is way better… and provide no real answers why.
What this clown doesn’t realize is that by voting for Kasich (who would never win the nomination anyways) or any republican, means you’re voting for misery. The republicans have provided nothing but recessions and wars. Time and time again economic growth and prosperity has always been three to four times greater under democrats than republicans. The last forty years proves that.
Giancarlo85
@wagnerwallace: Blah blah blah blah. It is not a “dead issue” and other issues related to equality, such as employment protections are not dead issues.
Come on clown… tell us why Kasich is better. And weren’t you just criticizing speeches? I don’t give a flying fuck about Kasich’s lukewarm and still condescending speech he made towards gay people. Like most republicans, he doesn’t quite grasp the meaning of separation of church and state.
So what are republicans better at? What is Kasich better at? What do they propose that would help this nation?
My answer… NOTHING but more bullshit and misery.
wagnerwallace
@Giancarlo85: Kasich’s accomplishments…
-He added 300k new jobs in Ohio. Dropping their unemployment rate from 9% to 5%
– His economic judgment caused Ohio’s “rainy day fund” to go from $890K to $1.5B, creating greater fiscal cushioning for future leaders of the state.
-He signed into legislation criminal justice reform, something that especially benefits non-violent, first-time offenders.
-He expanded K-12 education to the highest funding in state history. He also extended EdChoice, Ohio’s voucher program, from benefitting just 14,000 students to more than 60,000 children
I could go on, but I doubt you guys care since he has an “R” next to his name.
Went back through this thread and I still havent seen a list of Hillary accomplishments btw.
Giancarlo85
@wagnerwallace: He never added those jobs. Those jobs were because of his predecessor. He took the state aroudn and rove it into the ground, much like Bobby Jindal. The state has more debt than before, so a “rainy day fund” means absolutely nothing.
His criminal justice reform was actually a negative. And he actually slashed the education budget, not increased it. You can’t go on because you made most of those up. I don’t give a flying fuck about him specifically because he is a republican and republicans are shit for this country every single fucking time.
wagnerwallace
@Giancarlo85: Okay, you’re an idiot. I’m done chatting with you.
Giancarlo85
@Giancarlo85: *he drove the state into the ground.
Here are some cold hard facts:
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2015/07/21/3669240/kasich-announcement/
*Sweeping tax cuts actually hurt the poor and never helped small businesses as he claimed. They actually put small businesses under strain.
*Signed anti-choice legislation
*Opposed labor groups and signed legislation that restricted Ohioians from speaking out against employers
*His education reform was actually a total failure. He signed charter school reform, yet failed to address the actual problems. Ohio’s charter schools are the worst in the country and have been criticized heavily. In Ohio’s charters schools students actually learn less than in public schools… shocking.
A piss poor record if anything.
Ladbrook
The problem for the greater LGBT community is that the Dems are the only party that is interested in promoting LGBT issues, and the only party that understands LGBT issues. Thus, for those who want to live openly as LGBTs, not have their marriages dissolved, and not have their adopted children literally ripped from their cribs by the govt… then there is only one choice: Dems.
The downside, is that not everyone in the gay community agrees with the current policies the Dems are promoting in other areas. Some LGBTs are not for more gun control, some are not for Dem economic issues, etc etc etc etc ….
But voting for the Repubs because you support their foreign policy or their immigration policy or their whatever policy means that you are voting against your own existence. In other words… it’s a damned if you do, damned if you don’t kind of thing.
Giancarlo85
@wagnerwallace: You’re a big idiot who doesn’t back up anything he says. I just provided you a link. Kasich never actually created any jobs, and signed a tax bill that put many small businesses out of business. That tax bill propped up several major corporations. That’s all you republicans are. Complete liars and imbeciles.
There is a reason why Kasich has approval ratings similar to Bobby Jindal. If you wanted a GOOD governor, you would point out Jerry Brown who actually helped California regain the title of the top performer in the entire nation. But Jerry isn’t running and isn’t a republican, so he wouldn’t get any mention from a two-bit simpleton like you.
Giancarlo85
@Ladbrook: Yet most of us are for more gun control and for democrats economic issues. Interesting you bring up economic issues… something democrats are always better at. As if the last Republican President and last two Republican presidential candidates were any indications of how bad republicans are at the economy.
“But voting for the Repubs because you support their foreign policy or their immigration policy”
What is their foreign policy?
Putting troops on the ground in Syria? Because just about every republican is demanding that right now.
And what is their immigration policy?
Promoting xenophobia? Oh that’s nice. A gay person supporting a policy that is hurting minorities. Bit hypocritical.
Giancarlo85
@Giancarlo85: *for democrats on economic issues.
Come on guys… you can do better than this. Republicans have done nothing for the economy and continue to pursue legislation that could actually put us at risk of another recession.
So, if you don’t care about gay marriage… why vote republican? Do you want to be unemployed and living on the streets?
AtticusBennett
@wagnerwallace: i totally believe that. 😉 hehehe. just kidding!
badtungsten
@Arcamenel: Edward Snowden is a traitor and should be jailed. He chose to flee to Russia rather than face justice for his crimes. Russia! If we were truly a freedom fighter and wanted to expose government spying, then what better way to do so than in open court? No, he’s a coward who fled to the open arms of an antagonistic foreign power. He is no hero.
None of this matters, though. The ONLY thing that matters at this point is for a Democrat, ANY Democrat to be elected in 2016. At least 3 of the current members of the Supreme Court will likely die or retire in the next five years. Can we risk having new justices appointed by a Republican? Hold your nose and vote if you must, but you must vote and you must support whomever the Democratic candidate happens to be. The stakes for you and your family are just too high to be flippant about feeling the “Bern” or voting for a third party candidate because you don’t like Hillary.
I don’t care if she flip-flops on TPP, I don’t care about her emails, and I don’t care about Benghazi. I do care about who is on the Supreme Court. Laws passed by Congress are easily overturned. Supreme Court decisions almost impossible to reverse.
jheryn
What idiot wrote this? Obviously some narcissist. There are more issues out there than just gay issues. The Dems are the only major party that support us and now we give them thanks for doing so by writing crap articles like this?
Yes Mr. Gallagher, I know you penned this drivel. I say STFU if this kind of crap is all you have to offer.
Transiteer
Any of the Republicans would burn gays at the stake. Hillary is not taking gays for granted I don’t believe, but even if she was, who else would you vote for?? You only have a choice of this one, or that one, and that one hates you. No brainer here.
Giancarlo85
Guys, even if I didn’t take equality into account… I would never vote republican.
Republicans fail at the economy, fail at education and fail at the environment. I feel as democrats are the only ones that support regular people having jobs. Republicans hate jobs (except if the person is super wealthy).
AtticusBennett
the way gay republicans defend their bigoted party is like a boy giving his dad a “father of the year” mug because his homophobic dad beats him *less*

NO.
As a gay man I can now marry in the U.S., serve in the military, serve in the diplomatic corps and have my partner rescued as a spouse, and get appointed to high ranking federal office UNDER DEMOCRATS.
AxelDC
The biggest wins in gay rights history have come at the hands of Supreme Court nominees from Democratic Presidents. Other than Kennedy, the solid 4 voters came from Democratic nominees.
Keep that in mind in 2016, because they next President might replace Kennedy, Ginsburg, Scalia and Breyer, as all of them will turn 80 over the next 10 years. If you want a court packed with Alito and Roberts, then vote Republican. If you want more Ginsburg and Sotomayor, then vote Democratic. You could have a 7-2 Republican-packed court for the next 20 years, or you could have a 6-3 Democratic leaning court. The choice is yours.

@Giancarlo85: Did you actually just say “no poll showed that he won”? Literally every poll said Bernie Sanders won the debate by a wide margin. Online polls at NYT, CNN, Slate, FoxNEWS, Drudge Report, Salon.com, Facebook, Twitter and Google all had him winning. What polls were you looking at?
But moving on to Sanders LGBT record, in the 70’s, when he was running for governor, he wrote that all “morality” laws regulating human sexual behavior (and he included specifically homosexuality) should be abolished. As the mayor of Burlington in the 80s, he supported one of the first city-backed gay pride parades and also authorized a city wide ordinance banning housing discrimination against gay people. In the 90s, Sanders opposed and voted against DADT and DOMA. He also supported civil unions in 2000 and full equality in his state of Vermont in 2009. Gay rights are and have been more about the right to marry, and on every issue, he’s been ahead of the curve.
Hillary supported DOMA and DADT, just recently “evolved” on gay marriage, and that’s about it.
Cam
@wagnerwallace:
So your argument for Kasich is that he’s opposed to gay rights, but it’s ok because the court’s already decided it.
So please tell me how this is better than any of the Dems who all support ENDA?
And please don’t try to distract from the topic, I’ll just ask you about it when you do.

“Are Hillary and The Dems Taking the LGBTQ Vote for Granted?”
I’m reminded of Billy Eichner’s character’s line on “Difficult People” the other night, when Julie said if he didn’t get cast on SNL then she wasn’t going to watch it anymore:
“Threatening to not watch SNL is the equivalent of a 7-year-old telling his parents he’s gonna run away.
Where you gonna go?”
Kevin Stoneking
I love Hillary but my vote has to go to Bernie
Bob LaBlah
What’s really sad about this election is how obvious it is that BOTH parties are out of gas. I sure as hell aint voting for that ol’ lying ass carpetbagging hillbilly (whose election is only going to ruin her husbands legacy because of her personality) nor Saunders, who comes off as a reincarnated Lydon LaRouche. I was hoping to see O’Malley stop looking more like what my black friends used to say “a happy go lucky ass privileged white boy” and appear presidential but he let me down.
This IS the greatest country on earth but has allowed itself to become nothing more than a rudderless aircraft carrier lost some where in the pacific ocean. Neither party focused on grooming leaders (the republicans are all but dead and they know it) and soon both houses are going to be worse off than they already are. I honestly do wish we could stay with Obama but the constitution will not allow it.

@Dean Long: Then you support losing our rights. A vote for Republicans and a Republican win will more than likely result in gays losing their rights at the State level. Hope you can live with that.
Mack
@moldisdelicious: And in those states, which party controls the Legislators and the Governorship? As long as the Republicans have control the gays will lose.
Kangol
Last night Hillary Clinton showed that she is smarter and a better communicator than every single one of the Republicans running.
She runs rings around those fanatics, crazy people and grifters. She may be pandering, she may be saying certain things to keep the Democratic coalition, and she may not be as progressive as Bernie Sanders, but I’m telling you, she is one brilliant woman, and she will get my vote.
Since we will have a woman president one of these days soon, and since Elizabeth Warren and Michelle Obama aren’t running, I hope it’ll be her. LGTQIA can be assured that we won’t lose any gains under Obama, and might gain a few.
WE HAVE TO ELECT A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, though!
Kangol
Slightly better version of that penultimate paragraph:
Since we will certainly have a woman president one of these days soon, and since Elizabeth Warren and Michelle Obama aren’t running, I hope it’ll be her.
LGTQIA people can be assured that we won’t lose any of the gains we secured under Obama, and might gain a few more under Hillary Clinton.
WE HAVE TO ELECT A DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, though!
Giancarlo85
@shakes_head: Wrong. Just about every poll shows Hillary winning and dominating the debate. Sanders put in a good if somewhat mute performance. funny how these trolls can never back themselves up. So who controls this alias? Sanders didn’t win those polls and online polls don’t mean shit. Even Huffington Post, which leans towards Sanders, said Hillary won.
captainburrito
Yes, lets give Republicans the Whitehouse as well, because their control of Congress isn’t enough!
GayEGO
I do not think Hillary and the Dems completely take us for granted as there are more issues than equality and it depends on the order of importance LGBTs have, realizing what SCOTUS has already ruled on. Based on the way the Republican candidates are acting, they nauseate me and so far I have not seen a really good GOP candidate.
bicurious
What a ridiculous opening question. The democratic party have EARNED our votes. The progress brought about by the democrats in just the past several years are massive and real.
onthemark
I was pleasantly surprised with Hillary’s debate performance last night. (Maybe the word is more “relieved” than surprised.) She will be able to deal with whichever Republican idiot gets that nomination.
Are the Democrats “taking the LGBTQ vote for granted”? Oh, I’m sure they WOULD be taking it for granted, IF the subject of LGBTQ rights never came up at all in the campaign. But the Republicans are the ones who keep bringing it up. They bring it up in a relentlessly crazy & negative way, so the Democrats will always have to respond positively towards us. Fear not.
Giancarlo85
I want to have a future and a job. There gay republicans. That is why I am voting for Hillary and not some idiot republican like Jindal or Kasich.
Giancarlo85
@Mack: Anyone who votes republicans also supports recessions and wars. That’s what these gay republicans don’t quite get. They claim they want to vote on other issues… if that was even the case why vote republican? Republicans get failing marks on every other issue. You want to drink clean water? Don’t bother voting republican. You want to have a good job to be able to pay bills and live? Don’t bother voting republican. You want to have good health? Don’t bother voting republican. You want to preserve natural beauty and restore the environment? You certainly should avoid any republican.
Seems to be a pattern of failure in my book, and it’s not just equality they fail so miserably at.
Kieran
Every gay voter should be an independent. Let the parties and the candidates compete for our 5-10% bloc of votes. No party should take us automatically for granted. Because if you ain’t got no place else to go……people tend to treat you accordingly. It’s human nature.
Giancarlo85
@Kieran: Why should we do anything you say? I am actually non-partisan (I’m not registered for any political party), but I vote democrat every single time. The republican party treats nobody right, except their rich backers like Chinese mafia linked Sheldon Adelson and the Koch Brothers.
billeetee
With the exception of our ‘bleating sheep’, the Log Cabin Teapublicans, it’s presumed that (when did the ‘Q’ get in and what is it?) we’ve ALWAYS voted Democratic. It’s almost a ‘constant in an equation’. Why do we need to have doubts at this point. I, like others, had hoped to be a ‘part’ of the debate last night, and we did get some ‘mentions’. I DO NOT expect, however, that we’re ‘last on the list’ of the Democratic Agenda. Remember we had tremendous Democratic Support back in June and getting there. We’re not a ‘forgotten group that is pulled out of the woodword’ each election cycle. And if we ever have reason to believe that we are, we’ve ‘grown up’. We have the means to ‘grab the attention’ just about any time we so desire. No, I don’t think we’re taken for granted, but I know that we can change that also.
Giancarlo85
http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/sheldon-adelsons-ties-to-alleged-chinese-crime-boss-under-scrutiny-after-new-testimony/ – Adelson bankrolls the republican party and is taking interest in Marco Rubio. But he’ll switch to whatever republican wins the nomination and funnel huge amounts of money into the candidacy. The problem with this is where is that money coming from? Adelson has links to a Chinese triad leader (organized crime). His organization is also accused and under investigation for bribing officials in Macau.
You support organized crime? Vote republican!
mujerado
@Jacob Shipton: A vote for the Green Party is one less vote against the Republicans.
ButtStuff
@Giancarlo85: “Even Huffington Post, which leans towards Sanders, said Hillary won.”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/h-a-goodman/yes-bernie-sanders-defeated-hillary_b_8292280.html
Good god, do you sound dumb. Are you like this all the time? Look at any online poll. Sanders wins every single time.
What the hell does the Chinese mafia have to do with anything related to this article? You sound seriously paranoid. You’re obviously one of those, everyone else is a troll and I’m the sane one, types.
Giancarlo85
@ButtStuff: That’s not what they said earlier. And what I’m posting is a mainstream article from them. What you posted is an OP/ED piece. Sanders didn’t defeat Hillary.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/cnn-democratic-debate_561dd837e4b0c5a1ce611bf6?ncid=newsltushpmg00000003
And the mass email I always get from Huffington Post: “Hillary Clinton Dominates at First Democratic Debate” – Wednesday’s Morning Email. That is their official position of their paper. She dominated the debate. Fucking deal with it.
The official position of Huffington Post is that Hillary won and dominated the debate. She made herself the spotlight. Sanders is a stand-up guy though and it was nice what he said about the email, but while he did a good job he didn’t dominate the debate. He isn’t debate material though and he wouldn’t be able to deal with the vicious republican attacks. Maybe he should consider being VP.
And online polls don’t mean shit you idiot. Online polls are easily manipulated and anyone can vote in them (and often they can easily be hacked). Ron Paul used to win those stupid things all the time… didn’t mean a damn thing in the end.
The article about the Chinese mafia has to do with the republican party and Sheldon Adelson. But you’re too stupid watching gay porn to realize that.
Giancarlo85
@ButtStuff: Going over the article, you posted a blog article. What I posted was an actual Huffington Post article from their mainstream editors. Their actual position on WHO won the debate. Anyone can write a blog article and bullshit throughout. Hillary took control of the entire debate. That is what mattered in the end.
Sanders appeared incredibly weak in one moment which even led others in the debate to go after him (O’Malley). I’m sorry, but his performance was mostly a hit or miss at worst. I’ll give him a B- rating in this debate, but Hillary easily ran with it. She is not someone you want to get into a debate with. We’ve seen this in Congressional Hearings where republicans try to go after her but fail.
ButtStuff
@Giancarlo85: So you are like this all the time. Great. Polls only work for you if they show your choice winning. Otherwise they are “shit”, got it.
Giancarlo85
@ButtStuff: Online polls never mean anything. Even people from other countries can vote in them. Ron Paul used to win those things all the time. But actual polls show Hillary won it.
You just have to deal with it, idiot. And like what all the time? I posted the actual position of Huffington Post (not a blog article).
Man you’re just as bad as Trump when it comes to debating.
Alistair Wiseman
Below is a great article from the left-wing Huffington Post on Hillary’s vast array of (non)accomplishments as senator from New York.
Quite a list of nothing, zilch, nada, etc.
http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/87613
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: You don’t really have any clue what you’re talking about. That is a BLOG article. Huffington Post has a variety of blog writers, including some conservative ones. That isn’t the position of the paper itself.
You know what’s nothing? The republican party and their non-existence “accomplishments”. More like incredibly destructive behavior. Alistair wiseass.
Giancarlo85
CAn anyone on here post some accomplishments of the republican party or any of their candidates? I’d like to see it.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
Great, then dispute the “blog” writers assertions.
She is a woman without accomplishment (other than hitching her wagon to Bill Clinton).
ButtStuff
@Giancarlo85: Okay, you’re the big man on campus. Everyone else is wrong and you’re right. Have fun with that.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Where are their facts? You don’t seem too bright.
So what are republican accomplishments? She has plenty of accomplishments. Including being Secretary of State. What are your accomplishments?
@ButtStuff: You’re like watching a hamster running in a wheel.
robho3
What choice do we have. I sat there last night watching this debate and saying to myself- I don’t like ANY of these candidates. Same for the republicans. I’m just hoping someone comes out of nowhere and runs. ( and not joe Biden). But if no one does I guess I would be forced to vote for whoever the democratic candidate is even though I don’t like any of them.
Stefano Gant
Voting for republicans are voting for backwards and may lose all the progress that we have made so far. Voting for democrats is voting for the world peace. The choice is so clear and simple.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
We are not talking about Republican accomplishments or my accomplishments (as I am not running for president), we are talking about Hillary’s (non)accomplishments.
You asked, “Where are the facts?”. They are in the article if you bothered to read it.
Since you are always attaching left-wing websites, I thought I would attach an article I liked, called,”Liar, Liar, Pantsuit on Fire, 27 Hillary Fibs, Obfuscations and Lies” that Hillary told last night.
Enjoy!
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/14/liar-liar-pantsuit-fire-27-hillary-fibs-obfuscations-lies/
lelandjr
She’s _using_ ignorant, uninformed gays just as she’s using blacks for votes.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: Breitfuckingbarf. That’s all that site is. You could do better than that. Washington Times is better than Breitbarf. Surprised that site still exists after their owner died after eating too many donuts.
There are no real facts in that article. It’s a pile of shit, much like your argument.
Giancarlo85
@lelandjr: Oh yea… because you right wing gays are just so informed aren’t you?
Just like Alistair… stupid ass posted one of the worst “sources” out there. Breitbarf… seriously… what are you smoking? What facts? You don’t know anything about facts, little alstair.
If I wrote a book about all the republican lies in the primaries, it would fill a one thousand page book.
Check out this list of republican bullshit:

Andrew Breitbart should have took that shit website with him to the grave. Funny how Andrew looked like he was 70. He was 43 when he peeled over.
Conservatism is bad for your health and can age you… Breitbart was a raving lunatic. Much like our resident trolls.
Nic Nicholas
Ridiculous question. Are u looking for copy to fill the pages ?
o.codone
@Louis: the democrats are importing muslim jihadists who will put a knife in your gut at the next pride parade when your dressed-up like a nun dancing to madonna music. lets vote for that again … until we are full of jihadists and there is no way out. the dems are not gay’s friends.
o.codone
i have reported GIANCARLO85 again for monopolizing the discussion, name calling and hate speech. god please ban this ra^cist hater. why is this crazy person part of the discussion?
Giancarlo85
@o.codone: Interesting since it was the republican party that created ISIL. Should have never got involved in Iraq. You vote republican and many republicans are Christian crusaders (the equivalent of a Jihadist). So funny how full of shit you are.
@o.codone: You are an extremely violent bigot who hated minorities and wants immigrants deported. You are not capable at having a discussion as you resort to the same idiotic lies (like democrats importing jihadists… what a crock). By the way, if you are talking about Syrian refugees keep in mind many of them are secularists who are fleeing the republican backed and created ISIL. They are also fleeing Assad’s barrel bombs.
scotshot
@Jacob Shipton: A vote for them is a vote for the GOTP.

@Alistair Wiseman: Once again the resident GOTP Troll opens its mouth and posts something stupid.

@Brian: Criticizing someone’s hair? Bill got blowjobs? Does the make her ineligible? Guess what? 60% of married women cheat and over 70% of men cheat. BFD.

scotshot
@BJ McFrisky: Guess what BJ? So predictable. You’re the liar.
Chad Miller
Voting for Bernie but if he does not get the nom will vote Hillary. She would be the less of two evils against any republican. Anyone who votes republican that is not in the top % is voting against themselves, neighbors, and our environment no matter sexuality, gender identity, race, ethnic background or other self segregating label used.
Giancarlo85
@scotshot: Brian (Jason Smeds) is deathly afraid of Hillary Clinton. He is afraid of women who have power. I mean actual power (like Secretary of State). Not a failed CEO who failed to find another CEO job after she was fired.
How many more people have to lose their jobs because of republicans?
scotshot
@Giancarlo85: He is a turd, isn’t he?
youarekiddingme
@Mike Messing: Mike, your statement is 100% correct. An LGBTQ person who votes republican could only be concerned with financial gain over his/her own self preservation. Very astute observation..
Giancarlo85
@scotshot: I can’t stand him or the other trolls like O-codone, BJ and Alistair. The reference to Breitbart is still hilarious.
Anyways here is another article…
http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2015/10/13/hillary_clinton_won_the_cnn_debate_with_a_surprising_performance.html
More on why Hillary won the debate. Bernie Sanders did a good job overall, but was totally overshadowed… and was put on the defensive early on. People bring up online polls… but anyone can vote in those. Even a 13 year old. Even someone from Bangladesh. Not very accurate.
Giancarlo85
@youarekiddingme: The sad part is republicans are bad for financial gain or self preservation. Vote republican, head to the unemployment line! The last republican President almost completely ruined this country economically.
It’s such a misguided way of thinking.
youarekiddingme
@wagnerwallace: Where have you been over the last couple of years?
Did you follow the lawsuits that were brought before the US Supreme Court for same-sex marriage? Do you realize that one of the cases came from that shit-bag Kaisch state of Ohio? And you fuckin support him? Tell him thanks, while Jim Obergefel went through hell trying to get his name on a death certificate for his dead husband… Are you a heartless prick or what?
You’re gonna support a DO#CHE BAG like Kaisch instead of Sanders of Clinton? You are heartless and unbelievable.
Just keep your ANTI GAY opinions to yourself from now on huh?
youarekiddingme
@wagnerwallace: Oh yea, “LET’S BE GROWN UP”…(can’t believe you’d have the balls to say that to another person with your heartless comment)!
youarekiddingme
@wagnerwallace:
Funny you mentioned Kasich going to a “gay wedding” and all…so strong of him to be “standing apart” from the rest of the republican candidates huh? BULLSHIT!! He’s got nothing to lose! He’s at damn near the bottom of the heap…That whole story is ficticious bullshit. Furthermore, if one of his daughters were a lesbian, he’d have her shipped out of the country, or stoned!
You are living in fools world if you believed that line of utter bullshit!
youarekiddingme
@o.codone: I have REPORTED YOU for rampant drug use, immorality, habitual masturbation and stupidity (as well as crimes against humanity)! I hope they expel you from here forever!!

Hillary and Bernie will both fight for us. Most of you voted for Obama, didn’t you.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
As usual, you are unable to address the post. Typical.
But you are good at posting items from Salon, Alternet, Slate, etc. All left-wing garbage.
You still have not said what Hillary has accomplished. Empty (pant)suit.
It is going to take more than, “Vote for me, I have a vagina.”
Alistair Wiseman
@scotshot:
Funny, I didn’t know the Duggars were running for political office.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: And you failed as expected. Failure is part of the conservative belief system. The conservative tries to snap back as his entire argument falls faster than the Titanic.
I’ve posted factual articles. Salon, Alternet and Slate are all accurate and factual. They use secondary sources and evidence to back up their claims. BreitBARF doesn’t do that. Breitbarf is yellow journalism and their founder is long dead because he had too many jelly donuts. You’re an empty person who provides nothing to back up your attacks on Hillary.
You’re a miserable failure at debating. A complete total failure.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: “Vote for me. I was Governor of a state I made into a shithole” – Yeah sure. Dubya had “executive experience”. So what? Obama has been a far better President than that clown. Republicans always claim they have this “mysterious experience”… yet, if you look at their records it’s always shit. Kasich has done a terrible job in Ohio. Jindal drove his state into the ground. Jeb Bush was perhaps one of Florida’s most corrupt governors in recent times. Marco Rubio doesn’t run anything but he’s taking money from a gangster (Sheldon Adelson).
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
You said Hillary won the debate. However, EVERY poll I have seen has Bernie winning by a significant margin.
73% Bernie 22% Hillary…Advocate
74% Bernie 16% Hillary…Slate
59% Bernie 12% Hillary…Time
54% Bernie 9% Hillary…Drudge Report
Not even close!
dbmyers
@Brian: You are a troll who should go back to Fox News where you were hired. Talk about pathetic!
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
That is your defense of Hillary? Wow!
(And you have audacity to criticize my debate skills!)
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: And yet the brainless idiot posts online polls. Anyone including kids can vote in those. Not at all accurate. All major analysts says Hillary won and dominated.
@Alistair Wiseman: What debating skills? You have none.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
Umm, where are the polls that show Hillary won?
Voters, not “analysts”, determine who win elections.
Where are the polls showing Hillary won?
winemaker
ARE YOU SERIOUS WITH THIS QUESTION? THIS TWO FACED LYING SNAKE WILL SAY AND DO ANYTHING TO GET OUR VOTES AND ANYONE ELSE’S VOTE FOR THAT MATTER. HOPEFULLY THE GAY COMMUNITY IS SMART THIS TIME AND ISN’T EASILY SUCKERED. SURE AS SHIT IF SHE GETS THE WHITE HOUSE, IT’LL BE 4 MORE YEARS OF THE LAST EIGHT, ALL WHILE GETTING A BIG PAYCHECK AND WE, THE GAY COMMUNITY AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILL GET BUPKUS. WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT WERE TO HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED AND FIXED OVER THE LAST EIGHT YEARS, LIKE THE SHITTY ECONOMY, WHERE ARE ALL THE ‘GOOD’ JOBS WE WERE PROMISED? OH YEAH, THEY WERE ALL OUTSOURCED TO THE WORTHLESS DIRTY SUBHUMAN RED CHINESE. HEALTH CARE IS STILL OUT OF FINANCIAL REACH FOR MANY AMERICANS, ALL WHILE ALL THE ILLEGALS AND BOAT PEOPLE GET ALL KINDS OF ‘FREEBIES’: WELFARE, FOOD STAMPS, HOUSING VOUCHERS, AND FREE HEALTH CARE WITHOUT HAVING CONTRIBUTED ONE DIME INTO THE COFFERS, ALL AT THE EXPENSE OF US THE TAXPAYERS. YES FOLKS, TIME TO GET SMART, DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE, GET POLITICALLY SMART AND GET THESE TRAITOROUS LIBERALS OUT OF WASHINGTON AND GET SOMEONE IN THERE WHO WILL HELP OUT ALL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

@Alistair Wiseman: The instant polls taken after the debate are in no way accurate. I’m surprised that someone who is so supposedly savvy don’t seem to be aware of this. Where do you live, Dogpatch?

I see my challenge to the log cabiners has still gone unanswered. Nobody could think of ANY GOP candidate that would be better on LGBT rights than Clinton or Sanders? Sorry to make you guys have to, you know, deal with reality.
But look on the bright side, you still have a few months to cry, call Clinton a liar and stamp your feet like children.
Chris
To ask if gay folk are being taken for granted is the wrong question. The right question should be: Who has the better record and who is more likely to support us? The answer to that is (or should be) obvious: in order Sanders and Clinton are more better for gay folk than any Republican clown who is currently in the race.
While I don’t believe in letting the perfect be the enemy of the better-than-what-we-have-now, I am worried by the Clintons’ propensity to always look for “common ground” around which to compromise. That results in things like the continuous degradation of the environment, but in smaller steps. It also results in compromising on basic human rights, about which there should be no compromise. That is why I put Sanders ahead of Clinton.
scotshot
@Alistair Wiseman: Is that all ou got? Just what We expect from a $10/hr Troll. Shoo!
o.codone
@youarekiddingme: Thanks for reporting me. Drug use, immorality, habitual masturbation and stupidity won’t get me banned from Queerty, it’ll get me named Chairman of the Board. And, when that happens, i’ll delete YOU, for no reason whatsoever.
martinbakman
That’s politics. Biden and Clinton didn’t support us until it was clear the vast majority of future voters favored LGBT rights. Seems like only Bernie Sanders has demonstrated a long track record of support.
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: There are no polls except online ones and those are meaningless. They can be hacked too. Your brain doesn’t work very well.
@winemaker: Lol. Do you expect anyone to make what you said seriously? Your cap locks key is broken. And just because you are unable to get a good job because of your rotten nasty personality, doesn’t mean Obama is to blame. The economy has improved dramatically because of Obama. You are a misguided peon. Make America great again? Wake up, Obama has done that and Republicans are trying to destroy that. The last republican destroyed the economy and you want to elect another one? You really are stupid.
Giancarlo85
@Cam: Whinermaker thinks the GOP will make America “great”.,. Lol. I can’t comprehend how naive some people are and how easily they buy into GOP propaganda. The last republican President launched a violent illegal war and just about destroyed the economy.
These log cabin and conservative gays are so clueless in every regard.
Alistair Wiseman
@Giancarlo85:
I’m sorry, which polls had Hillary winning the debate? The polls are not scientific, but they are not completely meaningless. Especially since every poll had Sanders winning by a very large margin.
It doesn’t matter to you. Reality be damned, let the coronation begin (to a candidate without accomplishment)!
Kangol
@winemaker: Nope, you are not going to get away with making a hideously r@cist remark against Chinese people. Not going to pass without comment.
Also, unless you were in a cave, things have improved DRAMATICALLY over the last 8 years for LGBTIQ people, not just in the US but in many parts of the world.
Also, the US economy has improved considerably since the absolute nadir of 2007-8 under Republican George Walker Bush. The US has had a longer expansion than at any time over the last sixteen years, 10+ million new jobs have been created (despite the steady shrinking of US government jobs, fiscal austerity and sequestration), and the US is an economic leader in a number of industries.
But no matter whether you agree or disagree with this, you simply cannot make r@cist, white supremacist comments about Asian people or anyone else. It’s unacceptable!
Giancarlo85
@Alistair Wiseman: And this idiot continues… What did Sanders do to win the debate? He was overshadowed. The online polls are totally meaningless. Ron Paul used to win those all the time. Never meant anything. They are completely and totally meaningless and unscientific. You are nothing more than a brainless fool.
s312g
@AtticusBennett:
Most. Perfect. Analogy. Ever.
@Giancarlo85:
He didn’t “just about” destroy the economy. He 100% wrecked the economy. But the GOP is always quick to blame Obama for the state of the economy, but he’s managed to scrape it together. Romney’s plan was to get unemployment to 6%-/maybe/ lower-by 2016. Obama hit 5.9% in 2014. It’s 5.1% now. He is still cleaning up the shit storm that Bush left, and if we get a Republican in office everything Obama has done to fix the economy will have been completely reversed and we will probably end up in another recession. And plus, we can not afford to have more republicans in the USSC when our dear, darling Ruth Bader Ginsburg retires.
Giancarlo85
@s312g: My top concern is that Republicans have gutted and will continue to weaken Wall Street and financial reform. These idiots are making this country vulnerable once again after they blew apart the Frank Dodd rules. Yet these gay republican talking heads are still yapping about how bad Obama and Hillary are… And how their party would make this country “strong once again”.
Gay republicans and conservatives are just as delusional and misguided as the religious right.
Some of the gay right wingers must only hate themselves but also hate prosperity by supporting a party that has sold this country out multiple times. Too big to fail my rear.

I can’t wait to vote for Trump. Giancarlo85 will then have to make good on his promise to move back to the basement of his parent’s hut south of the border. I can’t wait.

We got back from the mountains this afternoon and I am thrilled to see how cohesive the Democrats were in their first debate. Giancarlo85, kangol, AtticusBennett, and s312g thanks for your tireless pounding at the Rebiblicans that have swarmed onto this site. It is to Queerty’s credit that the Tedious Right is threatened enough to send GOP posters here day after day. Sad things. I missed the debate, but we had fires going every morning and all night, so small sacrifice. Rachel Maddow’s show was great too, caught online. Really exciting times. The Rebiblicans are really going to need to cheat big time this election season. Closing down DMVs in areas heavily populated with Democrats (Alabama) where licenses are required to vote, didn’t go over so well. Eyes are open. Love it! We have to have majorities in the House and Senate in order to whip the GOP, lest they continue to obstruct efforts to govern. The Party of “No” is so hideous right now. They are like disgusting bugs in a jar, can’t take my eyes off of them, no matter how creepy. The Supreme Court will benefit from having a Democrat take 2016. We need normal justices.
scotshot
@John:
Feel free to NOT vote for Clinton or the GOTP candidate, but by not voting for the Democratic candidate you are actually giving a vote to the GOTP. Have you forgotten the last election when the GOTP made even more gains nationwide because Democrats did not turn out in large numbers?
Do not forget the GOTP will draft a Constitutional Amendment to ban Same Sex Marriage and to allow discrimination against us and any other minority (including women).
Is it a problem if someone has only ever voted Democratic? I didn’t vote for GW Bush, GHW Bush, Reagan or Richard Nixon. Should I have done so? Just because I’ve never voted for a GOTP Presidential candidate does NOT mean I should start doing so.
Besides wanting a Constitutional Amendment banning Same Sex Marriage, they will prevent gays from having the same rights as Heterosexuals have, the GOTP will repeal ObamaCare with no alternative replacement planned, They will dismantle Medicare / Medicaid, Privatize Social Security, Take away a woman’s right to control her own body. This is just a start.
Look where America was in 2008 because the GOTP was in power and how many of our youth died just so corporations could make billions.
So feel free John to vote or not vote, it’s no big deal.
Giancarlo85

scotshot
@Giancarlo85: I don’t think so, but I imagine there are more than a few self hating log cabin GOTPers on these pages who would think it’s a dandy idea.
John
The Dems may be taking my vote for granted because if Clinton is the nominee, they won’t be getting it. She is not someone I trust or believe. She will (as with most politicians) will tell you what they think you want to hear and smile while not truly giving a rats arse. She is pompous, arrogant, entitled. Her list of accomplishments are titles only. She has ridden Bill’s coatails for years and continues. This being said I don’t see any of the Republicans worthy of my vote at this time either. As I read fb posts of friends it appears they vote Dem just because it appears that is what they are supposed to do. (although they say they vote for the person, not the party, not one can tell me the ladt time they voted for anyone other than a Dem)
John
@scotshot: Scotshot…It’s not a problem if someone has ALWAYS voted Democrat but don’t claim that you vote for “the person” be proud to say Im a blue dog Dem. Politics is nothing more than grand theater to divide and conquer. Not one politician in the last say 50 yrs has dazzled anyone with brillance instead they divide and baffle with bs. What we are told via the candidates and the media is much like an iceberg, only the top 10% is known the other 90 is underwater/backroom. And I will vote but my ballot will be split in an attempt to keep House/Senate/Presidency each split so they will not have it completely one way or the other. If they don’t work together then nothing gets accomplished so be it, it would be better than moving to the extreme left or extreme right with legislation. If Hillary would find some humility instead of smug and arrogance it may help her sonewhat. She (if coronated) will take the aprox 33% Dem vote, while whoever is the Rep candidate will the aprox 27% Rep vote leaving 40% of the vote of the Ind to make the decision and only a handful of states will really only matter. Again, we only know what the gov’t wants us to know.
