Argentina's First Gay Wedding Today Is Off!

Alex Freyre and Jose Maria di Bello

Just when you thought Argentina was going to beat America to full gay marriage rights, a judge threw a sock of quarters into plans for the first gay wedding in Buenos Aires. Which was supposed to go down today

Despite a court ruling in favor of a gay couple's marriage rights, and a promise from the city's Mayor Mauricio Macri to leave the ruling unchallenged, another judge has issued an injunction halting the ceremony so the matter can, uh, be further reviewed — but not outright canceled, because the new judge doesn't have the authority.

Which means Alex Freyre and Jose Maria di Bello big World AIDS Day wedding is a no go. At least when it comes to its legality.

This is a tough topic. Just because they cannot legally get married they can still have a wonderful life together. I wish you all the happiness

I find this deplorable for this day and age.

It is 2009 for god sake. don't you think that these judges should wake up and get with the times. I think that we should fire all these old foggies and replace then with young people who know and care about what is going on in the world today.
