At Least Somebody Got Some Action at the NewNowNext Awards

The NewNowNext Awards are LOGO’s answer to the MTV Movie Awards or something. But because it’s LOGO, a network many fewer millions of people watch, they have more room to experiment (and fewer dollars to do so), so they have categories like the OMFG Award, for Internet memes — which is, surprisingly, not sponsored by that smoking baby. The award show’s third effort premiered Thursday, and there were a lot of things wrong with it, like how they inserted the “NNN Awards” graphic bug in the upper-right hand corner of the screen (which completely blocked the TV showing images attached to the presenters’ punchlines, so viewers at home didn’t know what to laugh at), and how Niecy Nash carried the “I’m hosting with Neil Patrick Harris!” joke way too far (read: the entire show). But there were some cute moments too! You might not have seen them, because you don’t watch LOGO, and for whatever reason almost none of the web’s gay and entertainment blogs (this one included) bothered to run clips from the show on Friday, which might be a problem for their publicity department. But we had two favorites.

Above, the ChatRoulette spoof. And below, a Grindr spoof featuring Alec Mapa — which was sure to thrill Cheyenne’s partner Monte Lapka!

NewNowNext.com has a few more.

Those clips were terrible. The comedy was so forced and the production values were cheap. Niecy is funny. Sad that she hosted that piece of crap.

Oh and those awards… so boring. Not funny. I mean at least MTV has a huge audience that cheers for nothing, which makes it seem like it’s decent. This one, boring and no audience. So it really seemed boring.

(What happened to the “recent comments” box on the left? That was mighty useful.)

@Jill: Is the “Classic Queerty” page format malfunctioning?
