Atlanta’s Mayor Kasim Reed, who criticized the last year’s police raid on the Atlanta Eagle while campaigning, but then called the victims’ lawsuit against the city a financial “threat,” is learning to quietly eat his words. While he hasn’t come close to apologizing for the latest remarks — he says “any expression of my feelings could be part of the evidence in active litigation against the city of Atlanta” — he is promising a second LGBT police liaison. Which is nice, but, really? When all else fails, just KEEPING STAFFING UP, rather than addressing the actual root of the problem.

We gays have a history of showing that we will quietly settle down from a roar to a mumble if some politico tosses us some scrap of a solution every now and then.
This guy’s just tossing us our scrap. It’s our job to toss it back.
