Australia Proudly Keeps Gays Banned from Institution of Divorce

Australia will continue its loophole recognition of gay marriage, and continue turning a blind eye to most same-sex couples. Huzzah!

While marriages remain valid between two folks of the same-gender only if one of them transitioned to another gender after they married, gays can't tie the knot — and it's going to stay that way, according to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, whose Australian Labor Party won't act to lift the gay marriage ban.

Which is going make the mass wedding on August 1, as part of the National Day of Action, slightly … awkward. And awesome.
