Awesome Or Abominable?

A 39-year old gay man named Bradley Fowler has filed a $70 million lawsuit against two Bible publishing companies for intentional altering scripture to promote homophobia. By inserting the word “homosexual” into I Corinthians 6:9, he says, the publishers intended to design a religious, sacred document to reflect an individual opinion or a group’s conclusion to cause “me or anyone who is a homosexual to endure verbal abuse, discrimination, episodes of hate, and physical violence … including murder.” Fowler also alleges that unsavory edits caused him years of “demoralization, chaos and bewilderment.” [Joe.My.God]

That’s very likely a mistranslation. It is hard to know exatly what some of those weird terms from the old testament meant at the time they were written.
The Bible wasn’t originally written in english, so alot of it could be wrong.

Could’ve fooled me. Isn’t that how the Bible was originally written:
completely with misinformation, hate, physical violence, murder and unfounded guilt.

And now the wingnuts will rally extra hard because the “homosexual agenda” wants to take away their Bibles. Could he not wait until after the election to nitpick their translations? Selfish, selfish, selfish. No wonder we can’t get a civil rights bill passed.

Religion is just a prop for people who are sacred of what happens after death.

Sad isn’t it?

Way to go Bradley. Thanks queerty…I hope you follow-up on this story, and I hope Bradley finds a judge willing to grant his petition. How about a class action? Oh wait, can that many of us HOMO’s agree on anything? Just asking.

For whatever it is worth, the word “homosexual” was coined in 1860′s by Maria Karol Kertbeny or Benkert depending on what source you read.

Either way, the word didn’t exist so for that word to be in the Bible is deliberate distortion…

Yep, like Jaroslaw says, that word (and even the concept of a sexual orientation) did not exist when the Bible was penned. I do it’s scandalous that religious idiots are so brazen as to ignore this fact entirely in their quest to silence the gays.

Hey Ian…what if you are wrong? And Churchill.. the Bible is the living breath of God. This scrpiture is from the Message. I believe it’s pretty clear! Lev 18:22 “Don’t have sex with a man as one does with a woman. That is abhorrent.

>”the Bible is the living breath of God.”

Umm…do you have something a little more concrete besides ‘faith’ with which to back that highly improbable and unprovable statement up with?

People with imaginary friends scare the by-jeepers out of me.

Well, you have to be careful what references you use. First, you can’t use any references to the Vulgate and any publications that were derived from the Vulgate. You see the Roman world (Roman Catholic Church) wanted to create a translation to appear as the authority. However, you must know your history. The Vulgate gets its source from a bad translation that was going on during a time when the correct translation was occurring in Greek. That’s the mindset of the devil to create smoke screens and false copies of things godly. Next, you must understand that the most accurate English translation would be the KJV (not the new one). And then, you don’t need to know Greek to learn and accept that god used James Strongs to give us the Strong’s Concordance. God raises people up to do a work for our benefit in understanding him, but that doesn’t mean you need the Strong’s to understand God. Next, even if you use the scripture at face value from the KJV (without any private interpretations), I can clearly show you what it does and doesn’t say about homosexuality. I’ve created a 23 page document on this topic. First, you have to understand that there is a differentiation between being promiscuous and being gay or in a monogamous relationship… just as it would be for the straight world. And lastly, the final and best answer is to go in your prayer mode and get the answers from the source, God! Feel free to email me for further discussion. lelanddiscerns@gmail.com

The Bible was written by men through Christ Jesus. I believe that the God who created the Heaven’s and the Earth and all that you see each and every day could also make sure that the translation is right. If you haven’t noticed there are many things that are sins, homosexuality is just one. Sex outside of marriage, adultery, lustful thoughts, stealing, lying, coveting, murder, hate, all of those are sins and there aare plenty more. If you don’t believe the Bible is true, then that is sad for all of you, but leave those of us alone who do. I am sorry that people discriminate against you, I know that you were not born gay that it is a choice, but yeah it is your choice, I only feel sorry for you because you are seperating yourselves from the one peron who does love you uconditionally, Jesus Christ, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. When you die you will realize the importance of that but for right now, live as you see fit. He knew better though and he was just trying to leave you a guide. Because no matter how you feel, you are wrong!
