Thanks Villager, I was trying to think of something like "if the will of the people is to kick him in the nuts" example but I was so ticked off I couldn't! :)

Exactly- putting emphasis on his middle name is the same old fear tactic.

I bet half the folks who call out Obama's middle name have no clue WTF McCain's is.

In the spirit of GaryNYCs democracy- would the majority here agree he should get a swift kick in the stones?

Gary- if the majority says so, then I guess the only right thing to do is lace up my Timberlands and ask you to step on up. And since it's the will of the people and all, I'm sure you'll take it with a smile on your face because, hey- this is a democracy!

Wont/Want. Haha.

GaryNYC - how can you be so stupid and know how to type? History is full of examples of where, most of the time, government and the Constitution served as buffers against the constantly changing whims of the public at large and in many cases the fervor of the mob mentality. And you know perfectly well the emphasizing of Obama's middle name is to plant fear into the ignorant that he is a Muslim (which he isn't) or that he will be soft on terrorism (probably not).

Always thought the way a democracy worked was to let the citizens vote on what they wont or dont wont. Guess just not when it comes to gay subjects.

Also wonder why some people object to using Obamas full name including Hussein when no one seemed to object to Hillary Rodam Clinto, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Dwight David Eisenhower and on and on.

"It Shouldn’t come to no surprise to none of us that once the CA marriage ban is instituted back by the public( most of them Obama supporters) He will unabashedly come out fully against Marriage Equality. Let’s all go and vote for the Obama plantation Y’all."

Wow. Once I sorted through all the double negatives, the only thing I can say is you sir, are laughable. I highly doubt the majority of people against marriage equality are Obama supporters. Just a hunch though.

Anyone who finds it necessary to write Obama's middle name in every single post is pretty much discredited on the spot. It's no different than the assbags who relentlessly jam marriage into quotes during a discussion on marriage equality (or, as they would say gay "marriage").

As a Gay rights advocate in my state pointed out, this will now put the state in the position of making people get "divorced". This SHOULD be a quandry for the "sanctity of marriage" crowd even if they don't agree with same sex marriage. Further, I really don't understand the courts. On one hand they say the constitution guarantees equal rights; they bow to the most technical whim of the religious right's ballot & legislative proposals - but what is clearly (per California procedures) something that should not be on the ballot (I don't remember the legalese but in California Amendments are voted on, THIS ballot proposal's action is supposed to be addressed by the legislature) - and the court has no comment. F**k the Supreme court. Even the governator said he would not challenge whatever the court decided. What a bunch of weenies.

I mostly try to ignore the predictable and racist rantings of Churchill-y, but to suggest that Proposition 8 is primarily supported by Obama-backers is not just preposterous, but false. The major political and financial backing for the proposition comes from out-of-state-based christian groups, as well as the mormon church. (Oh where would we be as a nation without all these people who believe in god?) Obama has publicly opposed Prop 8, as has Gov Arnold.

As for Obama's position on gay marriage, I really couldn't care less. It's a silly state's-rights position that doesn't really hold water, but to expect a major party presidential candidate with any hope of winning to take a more forceful, pro-gay point of view is to live in a strange and wonderful fantasy world--and withholding support on the basis of a preferred fantasy only ends up giving us rule by trolls. But perhaps people like Churchill-y think that mccain and his right-center and neocon friends would give us better environmental policies, a better Supreme Court, better international relations, better social policies, more Constitutional protection and a political context more amenable to progressive action than Obama and his center-left friends. And that's just silly too.

"I still think that these are decisions that need to be made at a state and local level. I’m a strong supporter of civil unions. And I think that, you know, we’re involved in a national conversation about this issue. You know, I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman"-
Barack Hussein Obama on the California Supreme Court ruling in favor of Marriage Equality decision.

Once again we will find our fundamental human rights left up to the whims of our neighbors. These are the same people who view American Idol as an art form, made rush limbaugh dominant on AM radio, take NASCAR seriously as sport, believe the world and all life was magically created by an invisible giant a few thousand years ago, and think Obama is a Muslim who took the oath of office on the Koran.

I hope those gays and lesbians in California who have gotten/will get married between May and November enjoy their temporary legality; I don't think anyone ever went wrong underestimating the progressive inclinations of the American people.

WTF didn't we just get all this stuff right in cali...i mean come on everyone has the dream of marriage and to deny it to a couple even if they are gay is wrong. If you love someone and you want to get married than let them because gay couples not being able to get married is hard on them because they face more challenges like them not being able to see them because they're not family.
