Bad Timing For The Boy Scouts
Like, The Worst

Yesterday we reported on how the Philadelphia's Boy Scouts will be evicted from their city-owned headquarters because they refuse to accept the gay folk. From today's NY Times:

A scout leader who once sued the City of Berkeley for challenging a national Boy Scout ban on members who are gay or atheist has been arrested on felony charges that for at least five years he sexually abused young males in the troops he led.

Sick, yes, but oh-so entertaining!

Here's a link that's way cool, like the kids say. But better sit down, have smelling salts ready…

This really couldn't be worse from the BSA's "look-we-told-you-so" perspective. Sure there's the whole rightwing-hypocrite thing, but in this case the scouts/fundies can easily (and will) suggest a correlation between child molestation and homosexuality's moral debauchery based on this guy.

The conservatives don't yet seem to grasp the idea that they have NOTHING to fear from an OUT gay man. It is those freaking closet cases that they have to worry about. And if they keep the OUT gay men out of the Scouts, no one will ever sniff out those hideous closet cases, leaving them to do their thang. Just like this freak in Berkeley who was just arrested.

Yeah, it always seems like the closet cases that do this shit.

Would someone explain this? What did he sue the City of Berkley for? To keep the ban in place?

Thanks

I also want to say I'll wait for the investigation/trial to be over. Coming from a small town and living in the country too, when you actually KNOW the people, what one reads in the paper often takes on a whole new meaning….
