Bad Trip: Update.

The two Spanish nationals arrested for being gay in Gambia face up to fourteen years in prison. The Spanish consul has been offering their “full support” to their incarcerated citizens, whatever that means. [News 24]

Spain is very, very good on gay issues (gay people are actually completely equal to straight folks over there) so I’m sure they really are working very, very hard for this couple!

I hope they are. And fast! Gambia isn’t exactly known for an excellent human rights record.

The West needs to start banishing these tyrants and applying travel restrictions much like the ones on Mugabe. Mind you, he did attend the Rome food conference. So I don’t know what good that’ll do, but the message needs to get out there.
