Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama released a statement celebrating New Hampshire’s civil unions:
Today, New Hampshire has started a New Year by taking an important step forward that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many gay and lesbian couples.
As President, I’ll work for the day when all gay and lesbian couples in America can enjoy the same legal rights and privileges as straight couples. It’s time to stop using these issues to divide us; it’s time to embrace a future of tolerance, equality, and hope.
We’re sure Obama’s support will give him a boost during New Hampshire’s primary next week.

Ah yes, O’Bumma panders to the cuirs for half a second and everyone squirms with excitement! Plus, he’s black.
Actually he’s the purply color of an eggplant or the inside of an artichoke… and cares about G&L’s just enough to get the two-lesbian-and-an-irish-setter vote.
And of course as soon as NH is over, he will be beating the tambourine and flapping his gums at the hallelujah choich, condemning dem sinners and hoping his bizarre wife will loosen the leather strap tied very tightly around his low-swinging nuts, just a tiny little bit.

Wow Lamb. Guess it’s safe to assume you will not be voting for Obama. As for caring just enough to get the two lesbian and irish setter vote (I’m stealing that phrase by the way), is he any different from any other mainstream pol looking to win the White House?
ee.em.bee
Right, BillieXX. If we are looking for a candidate who actually “cares” about LGBT issues, we’re gonna be looking for a long time and finding not much. Sadly, ours is not a particularly sympathetic cause in mainstream America. We are not as bread-and-butter as health care nor as compelling as Iraq. We are only useful to the vile republicans as something to frighten their feeble-minded base with. All the dems are pretty much equivalent in their meagre, middling, insipid support for us–the minimum, yes, required to lure the lesbian/setters and rainbow-flag-bumperstickered domestigays (which includes me, I guess). That given, we just have to look at other issues in judging candidates. Making fun of their complexions is probably not useful, although most certainly once the campaign swings southward we’ll be heaing a lot of hallelujas from people who really ought to know better.

an African American supporting “separate but equal” is just a mind fuck
Vagininalooz
This is great to hear. I have a new respect for this guy.
bboy
Hallelujah to the point made by Qjersey–I can not fathom how a black American can not see how despicable the current state of affairs is. Is it that hard to understand that a civil union is nothing more than providing a queer-only only, which should be just as problematic as the attempts in the 1940’s by southern states to create a separate system of graduate and undergraduate instruction for blacks?
bboy
I meant “a queer-only option”

I wonder how Barry would like it if his own interracial parents had only been allowed to enter into a domestic partnership.

Obama is about to re-enter the earth’s atmosphere and crash and burn on re-entry and no amount of Oprah can stop it. On the bright side of this news, his supporters can now start to build their rocket ship to another universe the one called Foolsville where there’s a pie in the sky and the moon is a balloon that gives free rides to everyone.
abelincoln
Why is it that we have to be “tolerated”?
“- to endure without repugnance; put up with.”
Of course there are other interpretations of the word but when I hear it come out of the mouths of people who are trying to show how wonderful they are, this is the definition that comes to my mind.
I think all this stuff is framed wrong and it’s mainly framed wrong by us in the first place.
I don’t know what I would substitute for the word “tolerance” but I know I’d substitute “gay equality” for “gay rights”.
underbear1
and to celebrate our CIVIL UNIONS, he’s planned a reunion tour of Donnie McClurkin.
Jim Pickett
I don’t know – but this fag doesn’t think gay marriage is the number one, only issue that matters. Two words – health care. Obama has my vote, eggplant or not.
BillieXX
Jim,
“Obama has my vote, eggplant or not.”
I’ll give you fify bucks if you find a person you consider an “eggplant” (why not just man up and use the word nigger) and repeat your sentence to him/her.
ProfVP,
Obama has answered that question. He said he would have advised folk to push for the right to vote and to leave anti-race mixing laws alone.

The policy of Seperate But Equal is a failed policy from the 1960’s that most African Americans felt was a disgrace. I guess Obama doesn’t think so. Funny that he has spoken out about the mistakes of the past, but seems quite happy to force Gay Americans to relive them.
