The facts – there was no “hate speech” in any of the three videos QUEERTY provided, nor was any claimed in the text. That not “apologizing” for someone, merely stating the truth. It was “fire and brimstone” and “repent before you go to Hell”, not hate speech. He thought homosexual activity was sinful, but computers seemed to get about as much notice. He didn’t want gays beaten, but rather wanted them to repent (and I’d imagine to put a little money in the collection box). He railed on about oral sex but it included heterosexuals, with him saying that they didn’t keep their “virginity” if they did that.

Perdue’s lies about being an “apologist” are comical given that I had written: “I thought [McClurkin] sounded really tiresome in the video. You’d have to pay me a lot to sit through a full-length session with that loudmouth but that assessment is simply me playing “theater critic”, and even a failed author has a right to put out his non-selling book for public consumption.”

Earth to Perdue – grow up and try to act like an adult – it might be a new experience for you.

It is interesting that as gay whites relish and rely heavily on the hard-won strides and successes of the civil rights movement of African-Americans in the United States, they want to dismiss and sacrifice African-Americans in the name of “their” cause (and gay whites, in general, view gay rights as theirs). A cause being advanced BY an AFRICAN-AMERICAN MAN (Barrack Obama) as it never has in the history of 43 white presidents! Amazing!

Secondly: It is obvious from some of the comments on this site that racism is secondary to homophobia. To gay whites it is okay to be racists in the name of gay rights. Why, for instance, do “Black religious people suck ass”? My question is: If the Black ones suck ass, as “John” disgustedly asserts, what are the white ones busy sucking? ALL so-called “religious” types have odious members in their ranks!

Your question reguarding the racial/ethnic make-up of the institutions you listed, Why don’t you tell us?? The ones I listed, made it loud and clear the amout that was donated by them in the passage of prop 8. I mentioned the predominantly white institutions because “many” gay whites want to believe that homophobia within the church is exclusively a black thing.

Not realizing that the predominantly white institutions do the gay community far more damage. They have deeper pockets,political affiliations on BOTH sides going far back and tentacles that stretch into “every” branch of government.

As Bill Perdue @26 & 45 so eloquently put, the black church is small potatos. They’re viewed as a side show by the powers that be.

On another subject why do right wingers want to distort discussions about the origins of bigotry by limiting criticism to African American cults and ignoring the big guns of bigotry, Euroamerican cults and the leaders of the Democrats and Republicans who cater to them and provide them with federal bribes.

The obvious and only reason is that people who want to distort the discussion by zeroing in on black cults are racists trying to mask their repulsive hatred of African Americans. Their comments are meant to create hostility and increase divisions in the LGBT communities. They’re doing the work of the bigots who want us divided and all the weaker for it. What Bill Perdue is missing should be obvious to everyone – there were simply no claim whatsoever about hate speech in what was reported about Donnie McClurkin, nor was there any hate speech in the video (he merely listed homosexuality as one of the reasons to “repent”, one item in a long list of “sinful” behavior). Perdue then tried to throw some imaginary hate speech into the discussion, I presume because he didn’t like First Amendment rights to free speech and religious freedom being mentioned without it being buried in a list of caveats about issues not relevant to the discussion.

If you don’t like McClurkin, don’t go. I thought he sounded really tiresome in the video. Exactly where in the article did it say one word about hate speech (e.g., something that incites violence)? You just made that one up. The fact is that there is nothing a president can do about some guy who is simply obnoxious, other than to ignore him.
